Austin 2012: SXSW

May 05, 2012 21:21

I had great fun at SXSW last year that I decided to give it another shot. Similar routine of watching wonderful independent films but this year I watched mainly documentaries and they were all pretty awesome. Dubbed the Live Music Capital of the World, the city has a vibrant live music scene with more music venues per capita than any other U.S. city, I always look forward to the music festival, where bands from all over U.S make their way to Austin. There's certainly a really chill and relax atmosphere all around. Great place if you're into clubbing and music for sure.

The other slogan adopted by Austinites is "Keep Austin Weird". Kinda cool as people feel free to express themselves without feeling conscious that they are being weird. Weird is good! It makes for an interesting and enriching experience. Oh, I also managed to meet up with an old schoolmate who is currently living near Austin and we haven't seen each other since we left high school! It was a great catch up.

SXSW is an interesting experience to say the least. The creativity, passion and dedication of the people is so apparent that you can't helped but be inspired. Here are some of the highlights.

Here's a new definition to "pub crawling". Literally these guys are paddling around town as they enjoy their beer. Very cool.

Lines are everywhere during this period. This is the line for one of the theaters for film fest.

Common sight. Film goers.

Mascot for Glomper, walking around stopping to take pictures.

A band from San Francisco.

Keeping Austin weird.

6th street in downtown Austin.

Strong message and clearly not everyone loves SXSW.

austin, blessing, travel, adventure
