Austin 2012: Fabi + Rosi

Apr 30, 2012 21:32

Last year when we were in Austin, our meals were mainly BBQ and it was a bit of an overdose for me. Hence I was really excited to check out other cuisines in our trip last March. Our most impressive meal was clearly at Uchiko but Fabi+Rosi left a significant impression too.

I love that F+R stands in a gorgeous bungalow and its interior is warm, inviting and modern. Service was friendly and attentive and I looked forward to the European cuisine, a combination of German and French. It's great that they pay attention to sustainability and make it a priority to source local, seasonal and organic food.

Beautiful house.

Fried oysters with frisée. Yummy.

p.e.i. mussels weißburgunder, garlic-thyme broth - this was da bomb for me! One of the best mussels that I have had and I would have licked the plate if no one was looking.

Foie gras stuffed duck breast smoked pomme mousseline, oyster mushrooms. Absolutely divine!

Pork schnitzel, brat, 12-hour belly, spätzle + kraut. Delicious but not as outstanding as the foie gras.
