Yesterday for the second day in a row I got free beer from school. This was awesome in two respects: 1. it was beer and 2. it was free beer. On Wednesday my "Theories of the Photographic" professor had a field trip to the Hammer Museum and then to Brew Co. Sadly, this is the first time I had ever stepped foot in Brew Co. (It's one of two bars near campus and thus sees much drunkenness, but not by me...) A bunch of us ordered beer before the prof told us he couldn't charge alcohol to the English department (which would've been really awesome) so he paid for our beer. I felt weirdish about that, but it seemed weirder to try to give him money. I don't know. Is there a proper etiquette response for accidentally getting your professor to buy you a pint?
Yesterday was the Senior Sendoff, and the fact that I'm not graduating did not stop me from going. I even got a free glass! A pint glass! That got beer put in it! Twice! True it was wateryish keg beer, but still! Beer! On Campus! Free! They also had a raffle, which I stuck around for, because (if you couldn't tell already) I love the free. I got this $50 gift certificate to a jewlery store in Westwood. I'm not too sure what to do with it, as I'm not really a jewlery person... Maybe I can buy a solid bit of gold and then resell it and use the money to buy games... Or I could buy wedding presents for my two friends getting married, except it's supposed to be household stuff (for bride and groom), not jewlery. Plus, what can you really buy with $50 at a jewlery store, anyway? I also didn't get paid Wednesday, so now I have to go hunt down a rush check from payroll instead of having my nice direct deposit...
Supposedly today in my other English class the professor is bringing cupcakes he baked himself. And yesterday I got Oreos from another professor. And random lemon pie from some office next to my class. What is it about ninth week and free food?
