Fabric Fabric Everywhere!

The postman was very kind today. I received:

1. The silk taffeta from Decorative Silk. Lovely! And it got here so quickly. I am very impressed with this company.

2. The linen I just ordered last week from Fabrics-store.com. They have always been fantastic, so I am not surprised. This is going to used as a petticoat for the ballgown and for lining the bodice etc. The shade looks perfect with the silk, so I am very pleased. If it shows a bit while dancing, it won't be very obvious at all.

3. The friggin coutil FINALLY arrived. What has it been? 2 months? Cripes! Very nice quality and cheap cheap price, but took forever to get it shipped. However, given my woes with fitting the mock up of the corset, it hasn't really set me back too much. I am debating whether I want to try yet ANOTHER darn mock up or if I want to just go out and purchase a corset for this one event and worry about it later. Megan loaned me these baste in eyelet pieces which made things much better. But it also made me realize that the corset was SO big on top that it didn't even make sense to try and fit it. It would be easier to recut the pieces. Blah. Project from hell.

4. David's Victorian attire arrived. I am usually skeptical of mail ordered garb, but I am very impressed with this company. I was afraid the quality would be shoddy or that we would end up having to do a lot of alteration, but things look good. We will need to get the pants hemmed as we purchased them unhemmed... but other than perhaps a pressing of the shirt, he is set to go. The cravat thingie looks a bit wonky, but I think that was my fault more than the cravat's. I would definitely recommend this seller. In the package was also the crocheted gloves I ordered for me. I LOVE them. They are very delicate and pretty. I can't wait to wear them.

The only major thing left to be delivered is the lace and fringe I ordered. I can't wait to see how they look next to the fabric.
