On Monday after I arrived on campus, it started snowing. As I walked towards the office, I saw a firetruck outside. I initially thought it was for the building opposite (Life Sciences Building), but as I walked into our building, I saw two firefighters shoveling water out another door. The ground floor was flooded! The water was a few cm deep in the hallway leading our office. The water had creeped inside our office through the door, so the carpet near the door/wall was soaked. Restoration crews have been in the building the last couple days cleaning up. It involves putting many industrial strength blow dryers and dehumidifiers around the hallways and carpet. When they are on, they are loud and you can barely hear the phone ring.
It looks like we dodged the big snowfall initially forecast for tomorrow, instead Seattle is preparing for a big dump of snow. It's still quite cold though, -7C right now and as low as -20C with wind chill tomorrow night.
