There goes the holiday season, back to work tomorrow. The past couple weeks have been quite enjoyable with lightly loaded buses, quiet office, lots of dinners and gatherings with friends and family. Many staff at academic institutions seem to get a few days off (Dec 23-Jan 2) during the holiday season, so that's quite nice for them. But that doesn't apply to our company, so it means empty staff parking lots, closed offices around campus, locked buildings, very little food services. Even though I no longer have two weeks of winter vacation like I had as a student, the limited time-off makes you appreciate the holidays more. When I had 2 weeks ago, every day seemed to have been spent sleeping until noon. Now, I want to take advantage of the limited time-off and do something.
