Dree was in the den, hard at work, when Max came in.

"Mom? Can I go see Tal?" Her eye raised. "Please?" He made a face.

"Make your bed?"

"Yes," he said with a huff.

"Feed Tin?"

"Yes. Mom, come on."

Dree shook her head. "Fine. Yes. Go."

"Thanks!" Max said, with a quick step back.

"Hey!"

"What?" he said, with a turn and groan. Her eye went up again. "Love you," he said.

"Love you more," she grinned. He left and her head shook side to side. "Punk," she said in a hush, and went back to her work.
