Summary:
Seaward, Florida has always been one of those small towns everyone seems to pass through on the way to the bigger cities and better beaches. For those who live in town, there's always been an air of mystery that no one can quite explain. Located on the coast, Seaward is a town that has somehow managed to avoid falling victim to urban development and commercialization, but it won't be long before various parties start selling off their land to the highest bidders.

Most residents of Seaward know each other, and while they're protective of keeping their small town 'small', they are always welcoming of visitors. But, with any small town, there are secrets and rumors that constantly swirl. Everyone thinks they know what's going on behind their neighbors' closed doors, who's seeing whom, and when someone is in trouble. Most often, though, folks mean well and they rally together to take care of each other.

Claire Murphy is one of those residents everyone knows, but no one can remember when they first met her. She's lived and worked at the marina for years and, like the town mechanic, has had a hand in keeping everyone's watercraft in working order. Every time word comes that the marina is changing ownership, there's a fear that she'll be let go, but the new owner always seems to decide that it's business as usual.

There are rumors that the woods on the north edge of town are haunted, but even Murphy (as she prefers to be called) thinks the stories are there just to scare the tourists. While the police department does have a file on missing persons, it always seems to be non-locals who were last seen somewhere in town. Generally, it's assumed that they headed out of town and something happened to them elsewhere in Florida.

After all, strange deaths in Seaward would get the locals gossiping...

Unfortunately for Seaward, a developer has just managed to buy up a lot of the surrounding land, and is set on turning this sleepy little town into a vacation destination. The town's ready to put up a fight, but this stranger is out for more than just building a resort. He's searching for someone from his past, and if he digs deep enough, a whole lot of secrets - some older than most of the residents - may come out.

The Main Cast

Claire Murphy
[Elisabeth Harnois]

Claire Murphy (Elisabeth Harnois) has lived in Seaward her whole life, and aside from a few years at school, she's never really had the urge to leave town. Most locals teens can't get out of town fast enough, while Murphy just can't make herself leave. She's most often found at the marina, renting out equipment to the weekend visitors or repairing the boats of locals, moored at the docks. Some nights, you might even find her at a corner table at one of the local bars, being prodded to take a turn at karaoke by one of her few close pals.

Jackson "Jacks" Brekker (Jason David Frank) sailed in one day and rented the open slip at the end of the dock for a month. After unloading his Harley, Jacks headed out to "let his baby breathe" and came back about three weeks later. Since he still had a week to kill, Jacks offered to help Murphy fix a boat engine she was having trouble with, in return for looking at the engine of her truck, and he's been in Seaward ever since. Jacks owns a bike shop near the edge of town, catering more to visitors than locals, and fights with Murphy about parking his bike on the dock, like it's a proper parking space.

Hayley Atwell
[Merry Foxworth]

Merrill "Merry" Foxworth (Hayley Atwell) was born in London, but has traveled the world, thanks to her father's career. As a teen, Merrill would spend her summers in Seaward, helping out at her grandmother's bakery. This experience led Merrill to go to culinary school and, after a few high-stress jobs at some of the fanciest five-star restaurants, she decided to return to the quiet of Seaward, and care for her grandmother and test out new cupcake flavors. Following the death of her grandmother, Merrill now owns the bakery, and is in the process of renovating the space to accommodate more traffic.

Kevin Malone (Wentworth Miller) has always been involved in the family business, and he's extremely good at his job. If there's an empty stretch of beach along the Florida coastline, he's already plotting three different footprints for a condo tower with three pools and a six-figure rent for the first floor parking lot view. Seaward is surrounded by some of the most pristine development-ready land in the state and his family has been fighting for it for years. But, Kevin's not in town just to convince Seaward's town council that this change is best for them. No, he's in town to find out just what happened to his grandfather, after the elder Malone disappeared in the area, all those years ago.
