Are We Still Talking about This?

Not too long ago, the book form equivalent of Us Magazine For Politics came out.  It’s red, it’s shiny and it’s full of gossipy “he-said-she-said” goods that just drive Americans crazy.  Crazy with interest, that is.  It’s called Game Change by journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.  The book covers the 2008 Election, because, I guess, we ( Read more... )

The whole ordeal has been pretty irritating.
I 'spose I can understand where the anger and frustration comes from, I mean, it is irritating how the left can say pretty much whatever they damn well please while the right has to watch it or they'll be lambasted over a little slip, however, on the same token, we really shouldn't make such a big deal over it, because like you said, Republicans really don't care about Political Correctness. The Repubs need to just drop it. There are much more important things to be worrying about right now.

I have to say, I'm really disappointed with the Republicans. Hell, I'm angry at them, and a lot more angry at them than at the Democrats. I'll be damned if I ever register as one. The only way it could happen is if they went back to the fundamentals and perhaps got a leader at least half as good as Reagan. It's their only saving grace at this point in my eyes. =/

All together I agree. I dislike how our politicians are not allowed to speak their minds. People need to chill out.
All the PC bull is certainly not doing any favours for this country.

I registered as a Republican because I heard if you registered Independent, you couldn't vote in primaries or something like that. Anyway, I wanted to vote for Romney, so I went Republican. I've been meaning to change that, but I'm not sure how to do so...>_>

PC is the epitome of elitism, imho. And I've ripped a bit on why I will never say "African-American." I have more ties to Mother Sicily than I do to Africaaaa~a Anyway, PC pretty much glorifies poor performance and illegitimizes hard work. My favorite example:

"Man, I scored 52 on my SATs the other day," says Person 1 as they come out of the SAT room, not regarding that scores take up to 4 weeks to process.

"What? That's terrible!" says Person 2 with genuine concern, thinking the smile on Person 1's is only ironic. "Don't you get 100 points for just putting your name on it?

"It's ok," Person 1 says, smiling brighter. "I'm still going to college."

"But how?" Asks Person 2, completely oblivious to Person 1's darkened skin.

"I'm Black, Native American, Nigerian, Guatemalan, Colombian, Alaskan Eskimo and Samoan! Didn't you know?"

"Aw, shucks," Person 2 says, a jovial smile crossing his thin, sickly lips. "Is there a college guarantee anything for me?"

"Hell no! You're British, Irish, German and Swedish. You burn in the moonlight. Besides that, you scored an 1845."

"Aw, shucks. Thanks political correctness and affirmative action!"

I'm probably gonna get in trouble for that. And I'm not even sure if I addressed the topic at hand. I hope I made you laugh at least. XD

Yes, I'm late on this and have nothing significant to add. Sorry ^^; tanya_tsuki January 21 2010, 19:29:20 UTC
For the record, I totally think you should come to NJ and take African-American history with my professor. I really think you'd enjoy him.

And..that joke made me laugh even though it probably is in poor taste XD
