1. Finished putting up quite a few more listings for miniatures and miscellaneous ceramics/siilver-plated things I have up at
my Etsy shop. I've figured out a process that makes it faster for me to take photos and post the listings, which is nice. Still tedious and time consuming, but at least less.
I also sold another shadowbox and my first four miniatures, and got my first positive feedback as a seller (from the person who bought the US map shadowbox). I am quite pleased that my stock is moving at this rate! I think that must mean the photo/description/pricing mix must be pretty on target with what people are willing to pay.
I think it's also a good time of year for shopping. I'm gearing up to run a promotion for Cyber Monday & Black Friday, which should hopefully burn through a lot of my inventory rather quickly.
2. Went on a food truck walking tour yesterday, which was delicious and fun (I went on a food tour of the Lower East side with the same tour guide a few months ago). It was all based around food trucks in Midtown, so we got: sliders & hot dogs at Feed Your Hole, falafel at Crisp, a kati roll at Biryani (delicious!), rice & chicken at Kwik Meal (my favorite and so so good), and waffles at Waffels & Dinges (delicious as always--I have had them before, and this time I also sampled the hot cocoa which is probably the best hot cocoa I have ever had).
After the food truck tour, I walked up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to check out the newly reopened Middle Eastern art wing which is, I have to say, spectacular. I was extremely pleased to get the chance to view them, after they've been under construction for at least five years. It's reinvigorated my desire to travel to places to see Islamic Art, which I absolutely adore, in situ. Unfortunately, due some of the more negative aspects of my visits to Turkey, I don't think I'll be able to make it into the true Middle East to visit the art, but thankfully the reach of Islamic Art's influence is quite broad, and these are the places I do think I will be able to visit:
-Southern Spain and parts of Portugal
-Morocco, perhaps other parts of north Africa?
-India
I will have to do more research into visiting these places.
