Well Derek and I managed to find an apartment this weekend. It was the last one we looked at on Saturday and we absolutely LOVE IT! It's a two story townhome just on the Dallas/Plano boarder. The complex is only about 10 years old so it's still pretty recent and in good shape. And the area is amazing! It's right across from the Shops at Willow Bend which is a fairly good sized mall. And right down the street are some really good resturants. There is a Chick-fil-A just around the corner (very important) and and Super Target AND Super Walmart just 2 minutes away. It's right off the Tollway which will make getting around easy as well. Yesterday, MB and I drove out to take another look and it only took 15 minutes from her door to ours. I'm really, really excited about this place.
So now comes the task of getting all our stuff here. Our dog is in Nicholson and all the rest of our things are in New Haven. We got an email from our landlords today saying that if we wanted to end our lease a month early we would have to loose our security deposit. That leaves us with the following options:
1) We end the lease on Juner first thus loosing our 1300 security deposit but also saving us June Rent (so really we only loose about $300). Then we can get our furniture just a few days after we move in.
2)We still get our furniture but pay June rent thus giving us our security deposit back.
3)We sleep on the floor until the lease runs out on July 31st and get our furniture then along with our security deposit.
None of these options is very appealing to me. I was really hoping that they would take pity on us and say "you guys are in such a unique position. Don't worry about that last month's rent. We'll just put the place up for lease again". Alas, that was not the case. Either way it seems we are going to be loosing some serious cash which is something we really can't afford to be doing right now. I'm at a loss.
BUT, on the bright side we have a place to live. And the rent was WAY less than all the other places we looked at on Saturday which makes me feel like we are getting a bit of a bargain. I'm just glad that we now have an address.
I'm back at work today. Apparently the girl who I have been sitting in for is taking one more day off. I'm hoping that is all as I would like to not have to get up at 7am tomorrow. I know that with all these money worries I should be wanting to work every hour but it just makes me so tired! I just want to stay at home, run errands, update my baby registry, and bake. Here's hoping Derek gets a job today! He has his second interview with Starbucks. If we could get insurance it would make things a LOT better!
