I had a super easy commute this morning, probably because smart people took the day off and nothing was crowded, and when I arrived at my desk, I found a very generous holiday gift from new boss1! Fanfic is on the front page of the Wall Street Journal today. My feelings are decidedly mixed; the article is the usual fanfic 101 with a slightly more positive slant (or, possibly, it's just lighter on 'look at these freaks' rhetoric), though the fact that it includes an endorsement of fanfiction from Orson Scott Card makes me a little queasy, ( Read more... )
