there's space for us to shake

First, a couple of links, one new and old a few weeks old:

+ Sandra Bullock in talks to lead all-female Ocean's 11 reboot. I NEED IT. PLEASE DON'T SUCK. Clooney is involved as a producer, so hopefully it's not a full-on reboot, just a related property (and he can cameo as Danny Ocean, passing the baton to his...sister? as played by Sandra Bullock), but the casting will be SO CRUCIAL.

misbegotten (I think?), I meant to post this when I saw it but completely forgot until today: Dark Lords in the Afterlife, in which Sauron and Emperor Palpatine kvetch about how badly things end up for them. Hee!

Second, I caught up on a lot of tv last night:

Star Wars Rebels: Always There Are Two
Well, that was an episode of tv. There was a chance to do some interesting things here, but I don't think this episode did them. I also had a lot of minor quibbles that kept me from engaging completely with the episode (like, the power isn't on in the med station, and yet life support and gravity still work? What? Also, EZRA, YOU MADE A COOL BLASTER/SABER THINGER. MAYBE USE IT TO SHOOT AT PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE NOT EXPECTING IT. On the plus side, next week HONDO OHNAKA IS IN THE HOUSE. Or the spaceship. Whatever.). I did like the Seventh Sister (she's some kind of Nightsister, right?) threatening to ruin Ezra's pretty face. That was nicely creepy. I just feel like if they are going to do an episode featuring Zeb, Ezra, and Sabine off by themselves, maybe give Sabine some interesting things to do? I don't really care about Zeb and Ezra's quibbling sibling shenanigans.

The Flash: The Fury of Firestorm
Meh. I like the kid they cast as Jax, but I just didn't care about anything that happened in the A plot of this episode. I mostly wanted WALLY WEST to show up. I did really like Iris's scenes with Francine. And the ending! LANDSHARK. I mean, MAN-SHARK. I mean, KING SHARK. HOLY CRAP. I love it when this show goes all in on wacky comics business. Also, shout out to the COSMIC TREADMILL.

iZombie: Even Cowgirls Get the Black and Blues
Ravi is the BEST and he needs to be in the show more. I like the new FBI lady, and I hope she and Clive team up and discover ZOMBIES, because Major has not been doing a good job covering his tracks. I mean, I love that Ravi named the dog MINOR, but that is going to get sticky when the police come around. (Other naming things I liked: Rita/Gilda as the redheaded femme fatale/fake roommate/Major's hatesex partner.) I liked that Major's rock bottom was copping drugs from one of the kids he counseled. Privilege drop indeed. Plus Blaine and zombie Jesus! AND PEYTON AND LIV. I was dismissive of Peyton in season 1, but wow, her return really does feel important to the show and to Liv. (I'm still not sold on Ravi/Peyton as a grand romance that would make this emotionally hard for Ravi, more than just awkward, but I guess we'll see.) And now Peyton is going to be in on the real action and know the real deal. They just need to clue Clive in and I'll be much happier.

Arrow: Beyond Redemption
What an excellent episode! There was just SO MUCH GOOD here that I'm going to let the boring flashbacks slide (why are we not in Russia with Anatoly? WHY?). SALMON LADDER, YOU CAME BACK.

This episode was a tour de force for Paul Blackthorne and he knocked it out of the park. Plus, Stephen Amell brought his A game - he was fantastic in those scenes where he finally got to be right about being righteously angry! Having seemingly incorruptible Lance be corrupt was a great move, as was revealing it early so he could be the man on the inside - though you know Darhk already expects to be double-crossed - makes the story so much more interesting. Also, Lance's code name being "Detective" was funny (though still not the "Detective" shout out I was hoping for from this show, given the givens.)

Thea and Dig dressing up as the season 1 versions of themselves! Thea thinking the announcement was Oliver and Felicity's engagement and asking if Felicity was wearing the ring! Thea in the fight scenes! And that great scene with Oliver, and then Thea turning into Ollie's campaign manager!

Felicity and Curtis! The new lair! Ray probably screwing with the computers in the new lair! And I haven't even mentioned how awesome the lady cop Liza Walker was! She needs to come back! And next week, John Constantine gives Sara her soul back! Woo! The show seems back on track now after last season's misfires.
