We were at a revel with some rebels on a hot night

Ugh, the Giants were an embarrassment (but the Rangers won!) but who really cares because the STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS trailer was released. MY EMOTIONS. They're a confusing tangle of GIVE IT TO ME! and PLEASE DON'T SUCK! Also, please don't do that bullshit thing that was done in the Indiana Jones movies where Marion and Indy weren't together all those years. What dumbassery was that? HAN/LEIA = OTP OF OTPS. FORMATIVE. If they're separated, I will have some very strong words for JAbrams. I mean, LOOK AT THEM. *sobs* (I'm pretty sure I managed to remember to tag it all star wars: the force awakens if you're looking for gif sets etc.)

So, I don't really care about the EU? I read the Thrawn trilogy (I actually just reread it like a year ago - shameful confession time: I don't like Mara Jade. I'm sorry. I feel like I'm letting the side down. But she never made sense to me.), but that's it, so I have no investment in whatever they did with the next gen kids, so I'm perfectly happy to come into this with a clean slate. But if Daisy Ridley isn't playing a Skywalker (or, more likely, an Organa-Solo), I don't even know what they were thinking, because that girl absolutely looks like she could be related to Pernilla August, who played Shmi Skywalker. And also Carrie Fisher and Natalie Portman to a lesser extent.

HOW ADORABLE ARE JOHN BOYEGA AND OSCAR ISAAC? NO THEY ARE TOO CUTE. And a million slashers cried out and started writing fic about them.

Also, Luke is still Mr. Not Appearing in the Poster and Promo, so I'm guessing him being missing is going to be a thing? I don't know. BUT HE BETTER BE OKAY. I AM JUST SAYING. I haven't sought out spoilers, and I don't really want to know? just. PLEASE DON'T SUCK.

The funny thing is that I know I must have been hyped for the prequels, but I can't really call any of that to mind. Having rewatched them last summer also, I still think they're pretty awful movies, but The Clone Wars has sort of replaced them in my head, and TCW turned into an excellent show (I recommend it highly, but be warned, you might develop ~feelings about Anakin Skywalker. I didn't ask for it! It just happened!), and I'm enjoying Rebels, so I feel okay being hopeful about this movie. (Also Harrison Ford doesn't look like he's phoning it in, plus, Lucas didn't write this one.)

In other exciting favorite franchise revivals, Netflix is giving Gilmore Girls four new episodes, to be written by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. My first thought was sadness, because Edward Hermann is gone, but I'm guessing they'll start with Richard's funeral and the Gilmore girls (all three) dealing with it. Also, a lot of people are excited ASP is back, but remember, she's the one who tanked the show with the godawful s6, which took most of s7 (which wasn't as bad as people say - or, rather, the selected episodes I watched were okay) to correct for. The finale was surprisingly good. Or, I cried, anyway.

And who knows? Maybe they'll actually give us Luke and Lorelai happily together and also, while I'm wishing, Paris/Rory. Anything could happen!

In other tv news, I watched Sunday's Brooklyn Nine Nine. This was 3/4 of a good episode with a Boyle-Terry B plot I didn't enjoy much. Though it did give us "Terry loves responsible agricultural practices!" ♥TERRY♥ But I just don't need to see Terry Crews in a fat suit, you know?

Otoh, all the Jake-Holt(-Gina) and Amy-Rosa stuff was GOLDEN. *draws sparkly hearts around all of them*
