a dream come to life
So I just got a new iPhone 6 (I was eligible for an upgrade), and I was originally going to do a poll about what case I should get, but the deal came with a fancy Lifeproof case for free, and since it's not bulky (and I don't know how to get it off), I guess I'll allow it. But it's also white and blah, so I would like to put a sticker or two on it! Does anyone know where I can get stickers that would fit? Preferably Captain America (or the Cap/Bucky star) or Spider-Man or Black Widow stickers, though I could be interested in other superheroes (Flash, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Wonder Woman) (I was super tempted by the case that is just black with Nightwing's bright blue chevron, for example). Anyone? I am going to ask on tumblr, as well.
In addition to the phone and the case (and the "loyalty" rebate), I also got a free set of bluetooth speakers I will never use, but I guess all I had to pay was the tax on them? They came with the upgrade? I guess I could load music on the phone, which I've never done before, because there's such a small amount of space (16gb) and also battery life. But it's a new phone, so I could develop new habits! Who knows?
I also have made like 5 separate grocery story trips (well, I forgot the eggs, which required an extra one), to 3 different stores in the past 2 days in order to check off everything on my list for the party. I couldn't find mushrooms for the antipasto, so I got artichoke hearts instead (in addition to the roasted red peppers and black olives; plus the meat and cheese I mentioned yesterday). *hands* Now I just have to figure out what order to cook everything in (it's only three things, but the rice balls have several steps involved), and then how to pack it all when it's time to go to L's. I think my wheely cart can handle it. I just have to make sure things are wrapped up tight so there's no leakage.

everbright asked me to talk about That theme/narrative trope/structure YOU LOVE IN fiction that there is not nearly enough of.
On the trope front, I think fandom's got me covered pretty well in the fake dating/fake married area, and also in the mutually oblivious pining area, and the 'everyone thinks they're a couple' area, but I think I mentioned this early on this month - not enough actual marriage of convenience fic where they aren't necessarily secretly pining (or both of them aren't, anyway) when they're required to get married, and they have a deal whereby they are allowed to have discreet dalliances on the side, and then they fall in love and realize that no, that is not really what they want to have (obviously, this is more complicated in OT3 arrangements, but I bet it could be a lot of fun with Steve/Bucky/Natasha where Natasha's only in it for whatever reason at first and then comes to realize she loves her stupid unfrozen super soldiers). The pairing I love that would really suit this trope is Max/Alec from Dark Angel.
There can never be enough desperate, half-clothed, up against a wall sex to suit my needs, though again, this is a thing fandom's pretty good at supplying.
I also wish there was more comedy fic that is actually funny without being cracky. Comedy is hard, but it's so, so worth it. I have to say, Avengers fandom at large is better at this than any fandom I've been in since HP, though.
In other news, still no word from my yuletide recipient. Sigh.
