have a year-end meme:
from
movies_michelle:

Favorite main character of 2014: STEVE ROGERS. Um, obviously.

Favorite villain of 2014: SLADE MOTHERFUCKING WILSON. I did not think Slade from the animated Teen Titans could be topped, but by god, Manu Bennett and the "Arrow" writers did it. Alexander Pierce is a close second, though.

Favorite other character of 2014: BUCKY BARNES. NATASHA ROMANOFF. BARRY ALLEN <- I never thought I would say that. It helps that he's more Wally than Barry, I think.

Favorite M/F couples of 2014: Oliver/Felicity, Felicity/Barry, Steve/Peggy, Steve/Natasha, Bucky/Natasha, Varrick/Zhu Li (otp: do the thing!)

Favorite F/F couples of 2014: KORRA/ASAMI, Sara Lance/Nyssa al Ghul, Amy Santiago/Rosa Diaz

Favorite M/M couples of 2014: Steve/Bucky

Favorite 3 or moresomes of 2014: STEVE/BUCKY/NATASHA. Steve/Bucky/Peggy. Oliver/Felicity/Diggle

Favorite Crossover couples of 2014: Barry/Felicity, if that even counts as a crossover? Otherwise, Steve Rogers/Diana of Themyscira

Fandom that you never expected to get into: I didn't expect this resurgence of Star Wars FEELS, but then, I never do. Also, I wouldn't say I'm "in the fandom" (I don't even know if there *is* a fandom), but I was surprised at how good Jane the Virgin is.

Most recent fandom of 2014: The Flash! Or I guess The Clone Wars, but that's more like revisiting new canon in an old fandom.

Favorite Actors of 2014: ANDRE BRAUGHER. YOUR FAVES COULD NEVER. Also, Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Gina Rodriguez, Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin.

Songs I got Fannish About in 2014: EVERY SONG IS A STEVE/BUCKY SONG.

Favorite New Shows: The Flash, Jane the Virgin

Shows I'm Most Looking Forward to Next Year: AGENT CARTER.

and today's December posting meme:

December 27:
siria asked, what is your favourite thing to cook/bake?

These blueberry crumb bars are an all-time favorite, and I've been making this lemon cake a lot lately. It's definitely rocketed to the top of my favorites list. This cranberry-orange cake is another all-time favorite, and I like that in the summer it can be lemon-blueberry cake instead. *g*

I like that they're all reasonably easy and they always turn out well, even if I screw up somewhere along the way.

Speaking of cooking, now the New Year's Eve party (perhaps "party" is too strong a word - "gathering" is probably better, since only 6 people are involved) is back on, so today I did the first round of grocery shopping. The menu plan is this (keeping in mind that people shouldn't start showing up until 9 pm or 9:30 pm):

- meatballs simmered in red wine vinegar with oregano and onions (there should be a better name for this, but it's just something my grandmother used to make so there's no recipe or anything)

- prosciutto, slicing pepperoni and soppressata

- marinated mozzarella, and maybe some other kinds of cheese (provolone, cheddar)

- artichoke dip / crackers (L. is making the dip, but I might make these crackers if I feel like it; I bought the gruyere anyway)

- bacon-wrapped dates

- and for midnight, rice balls and sauce and champagne

- I delivered the four bottles of wine that lived under my desk to L. so she's going to make sangria

I've also set up another batch of limoncello that I'm going to give out as party favors. The paper products have already been delivered to L's, so I don't have to schlep them up five flights of stairs.

M is supposed to be bringing cookies, so I'm not worrying about dessert (though I did consider caramel apple nachos as a light sweet that could work).

That sounds like enough food, right?
