a rebel without a clue

Yesterday was my birthday, in case you didn't get that the first fifty times I mentioned it! *g*

So I posted the accidental baby acquisition story:

Greetings to the New Brunette (at AO3)
Captain America; Steve/Bucky, ensemble; pg; 10,365 words
"You said he should have a hobby. That it would help."

"I meant, like, knitting or coin collecting. Motocross, if he was feeling antsy. A baby's not a hobby. It's lifetime commitment."

It's 10k words of Steve/Bucky schmoop, if that is your jam. It's certainly mine. *snerk* And, I don't want to guarantee anything, but there will probably be timestamps, because there's a lot of stuff I didn't get to fit in because I wanted to post yesterday (first words! first steps! Christmas morning! meeting the grandparents!) and also
angelgazing keeps coming up with things, so she might be writing some, too. *hands*

I really need some new icons from CA:TWS.

innie_darling wrote a story for me: Kiss the Cook, in which Steve shows he cares by cooking (terribly) for and with his friends. ♥♥♥ It's serially Steve/Bucky, Steve/Natasha, Steve/Sam, but I just think of them as an OT4.

And speaking of cooking, I made cheesecake cupcakes (pic) for myself yesterday - what is the point of being a baker if you don't make yourself a birthday cake? - and they are SO GOOD. I gave a bunch to L. when we met for dinner last night, and I brought the rest into work today, where they were demolished posthaste. A++ would make again! I got 30 cupcakes out of the recipe, and I was very generous with the filling - 2.5-3 tablespoons per cup! - so if you need a dessert for a crowd that is not too hard or too time consuming, this could be a way to go. I didn't even bother with the toppings. I'm sure they're lovely but they're also completely unnecessary.

In other news, the closing on my parents' house is on once again - scheduled for tomorrow, this time - but since it was already postponed twice, none of us will believe it's actually happening until the papers are signed. Cross your fingers! Hopefully third time really is the charm!

My committee meeting this afternoon - which prevented me from taking today off as well as yesterday and Monday - has basically fallen apart this morning, with only one committee member still coming. I don't even know. I just take the minutes. (I don't think I mentioned it, but last week we had a reception here at work to honor employees who've been here for certain amounts of time, and I got a pin for my 5-year anniversary, and my bosses both said lovely things about me, including that I write really good minutes, which is hilarious and yet true, because minutes-writing is a weird thing, but I've done it at nearly every job I've ever had, so. *hands*)

Anyway, working is preventing me from gorging on episodes of The Musketeers, which is probably for the best. I thought I could be good and wait for one a week, but I really couldn't. I just want to look at their pretty FAAAAACES all the time. So I acquired it and watched two episodes last night. Oh Porthos. Oh Aramis. I am totally shipping them all together, and also D'Artagnan/Constance (I think I imprinted on the 70s version with Raquel Welch as Constance, which may contribute to this), which seems so typical of me, but ugh, I love that she's so involved in their plans and that she wants to be involved and learn to fight etc., and I just want her to get to have sweaty, half-clothed, bone-shaking, post-adventure sex with D'Artagnan every week. Is that so wrong? Even my adultery squick can't stand up against their hotness. I might have to check AO3 to see if anyone's written that. Sigh.
