mama may have, papa may have

I should probably lead with the fact that my dad just called to tell me my sister is on her way home from the hospital. \o/

I saw her last night and she seemed to be doing well - she was up and alert and eating, and able to walk around with support (remember, they cut into her head! I would show you the picture of her stitches - it's very hardcore! - if she wouldn't kill me for putting a pic of her on the internet), and the doctors say everything is going as well as can be hoped! So that is the best and most important news.

But there is also this! Fannishly speaking! via

Disney's Marvel and Netflix Join Forces to Develop Historic Four Series Epic plus a Mini-Series Event: Landmark deal brings Marvel's flawed heroes of Hell's Kitchen, led by 'Daredevil,' to Netflix in 2015.
Led by a series focused on "Daredevil," followed by "Jessica Jones," "Iron Fist" and "Luke Cage," the epic will unfold over multiple years of original programming, taking Netflix members deep into the gritty world of heroes and villains of Hell's Kitchen, New York. Netflix has committed to a minimum of four, thirteen episodes series and a culminating Marvel's "The Defenders" mini-series event that reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.
I wonder if, since Marvel owns Spidey's live-action TV rights, a version of him (MILES) will cameo at all, especially in Daredevil.

I've made no secret of the fact that SHIELD has not been working for me so far§, but actual street-level heroes fighting street-level crime? I AM SO HERE FOR THAT. I mean, casting and writing will be key, but I AM EXCITE.

§ do I think it's improving? Somewhat. Am I emotionally invested? Not really, no. Not yet.

They could stand to take a look at how Arrow has gotten better. It also started off not particularly well and now is one of my favorite things to watch every week (I just made it home in time from the hospital last night and I was so glad!)

I'm a little O.o at Al-Owal (LOL?) referring to Sara as the beloved ("Just because you're beloved doesn't mean you are safe") of Ra's Al-Ghul's child (oh, please don't let them genderswap! Please let it be Talia! Or Nyssa! Nyssa being a lot less known to non-comics readers would probably be easier to pull off here. Also, please don't let Isabel Rochev, who is her own villain in the comics, really be Talia) since we all know that is The Detective, aka, BATMAN, but I am willing to roll with it, since I really enjoyed this episode. Also, it would might make the Sara/Sin subtext into text and also torpedo any Sin/Roy/Thea triangle nonsense (I mean, I would also be fine with Sin/Roy/Thea as a poly relationship but that is not going to happen on this show ever and also I'm still waiting for Roy to be more interesting.)

ALL THE DADDY-DAUGHTER REUNION FEELS. ALL OF THEM. OH MY HEART. When he hugs Sara and tells her he loves her just as she is, I might have welled up a little.

Though possibly they should not have had that reunion in the middle of the street. I kept waiting for the ninjas to shoot Detective Lance in the back during the hug. *hands* I do like it when a show surprises me with happy (or at least not terrible and heartbreaking) things.

There were some great lines in this as well. "Don't tell me it's a League made of Assassins." Ollie, to Diggle: "You were right." Diggle: "I usually am." ♥DIGGLE♥

Now, see, even though Laurel's "Everybody leaves me" speech wasn't nearly as moving as Matt Saracen's (let's face it, there are few characters who will ever give me as many FEELS as Matt Saracen does. I AM TALKING A METRIC FUCKTON OF FEELS HERE. *sobs* THAT SARACEN KID.), I did still feel for her, especially at the end when her father was hugging her and yet still keeping Sara's aliveness a secret.

I think Laurel DOES have reasons to be angry with Oliver, and Sara's secret is one more of them, but they never had anything to do with his activities as the Hood. Hopefully she will get more interesting once she hits rock bottom and starts climbing back up.

I also had a lot of Queen Family feels when Ollie and Thea were telling MOira that they would love her no matter what, but I am also wondering what this terrible secret is (other than that she really wasn't acting under duress? That Robert was also involved?). And I guess that really is Jean Loring as her lawyer. They just need to not bring on Sue Dibny or I will always be worried about terrible things happening.

Of course the Amazo prison ship belongs to Dr. Ivo. Of course, it does.

I'm not really sure where the show is going with all of this, but I am really happy to go along for the ride right now.

In other exciting comics news, Marvel is also introducing a Muslim girl superhero named Ms. Marvel. Kamala Khan! I AM EXCITE. I like the idea that there is a Carol Corps in universe (though you know who Carol's actualfax #1 fan is? Steve. He's got the t-shirt and everything.) and that a girl gets inspired to take up heroing by a woman hero. (I'm also not sure why Faiza Hussain, aka, Excalibur, isn't mentioned in that article - is it because she's a British Muslim?)

Hopefully this will also prevent any weird rebooting where they take Carol's new title away from her so a man can be Captain Marvel again.

Now I just need to catch up! I don't think I've bought/read a comic since, like, June. Oops. time (and money) has just gotten away from me completely this year.
