there's still parties to be hosted

angelgazing had this great idea for a very laidback challenge, where people would make mixes and those mixes would be used as prompts for other people to write stories.

We've talked about it a lot and it's sort of evolved into this (though we are still hashing out the details):

step 1:
People make mixes. Those mixes should be either 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 120 minutes long (roughly).

step 2:
People submit the mixes to us along with up to three fandoms and three DO NOT WANTs, and we post the titles and (optional) artwork of each mix for claiming as prompts. Artwork - which would be awesome but is not required, if, like me, you are bad with the graphics programs - would have to be fandom-neutral (so as not to unduly influence the writer - mix-makers get to specify up to three fandoms in which they'd like a story), and the titles of the mixes would be posted without track lists or names attached. Claiming would rest solely on the title of the mix and the artwork (if provided). this way, the music is a surprise!

People who claimed 60 minute mixes (EP) would have to write a story of at least 5,000 words in one of the mix-maker's specified fandoms, and inspired by their chosen mix; they would have the earliest due date.

People who claimed 90 minute mixes (LP) would have to write a story of at least 7,500 words in one of the mix-maker's specified fandoms, and inspired by their chosen mix; they'd have a due date a couple weeks later.

People who claimed 120 minute mixes (double album) would have to write a story of at least 10,000 words in one of the mix-maker's specified fandoms, and inspired by their chosen mix; their stories would be due a couple weeks after that.

We would then send the writers the links to download their chosen soundtracks, and they could get to writing.

step 3:

Awesome stories get written! Awesome mixes get posted for downloading!

You do not have to do both parts, though that is totally allowed (though you cannot choose your own mix if you plan to do both); we figured it gives people who don't write a chance to participate and get a story they'd like.

Schedule and due dates have yet to be worked out, but we figured there'd be a posting window of a week or two, rather than a hard and fast due date, and stories could be posted wherever the authors like (but must be publicly accessible), but we'd have a comm (likely on DW) for linking and for posting the soundtracks for sharing. And a collection on AO3 if people wanted to post there (but it wouldn't be required).

She and I think this is a pretty awesome idea, even if we haven't quite worked out all the kinks of running it, and we thought we'd poll to see if anyone else would be interested. It'd be multifandom, FPF and RPF, and if there is interest, we'd probably make the announcement the first week in July, and go from there with the due dates for mixes, the date for prompt claiming, the story deadlines, etc.

So. A poll.
