March 2010 Writing Roundup

Disaster Relief
Supernatural; Bobby, various; pg; spoilers through 5.14; 3,865 words
The world is ending, but until the final confrontation comes, there are battles to be fought all over, every hunter now a soldier, and every town a front.

May As Well Crash With Me
Supernatural; Sam/Dean; spoilers through 5.14; adult; 5,090 words
Compared with starting the apocalypse, Dean figures a few alcohol- and adrenaline-fueled incestuous make-out sessions don't even make the list of things they have to atone for.

The Life of Umbrellas
Supernatural; girl!Sam/Dean; adult; au; no spoilers; 1,910 words
It's an accident that Dean even finds out when he does. Of course, the whole thing is technically an accident, so that shouldn't surprise him.

I am very excited about Treme, the new David Simon/HBO show about New Orleans after Katrina, and I wanted to share this behind the scenes preview, which makes it look awesome (thanks to
cathexys for the link). Wendell Pierce! Clarke Peters! Melissa Leo! Khandi Alexander! John Goodman! Plus David Simon and a lot of the writers and crew from The Wire (and HLotS before that). I hope it lives up to the promise of awesome in that trailer.

Needless to say, I was very sad to hear to that David Mills died yesterday (thanks to chicklet_girl for the info - I haven't been keeping up with my Google reader this week). Alan Sepinwall wrote a lovely tribute.

I remember when Mills used to occasionally participate on alt.tv.homicide. He gave Jeannie Boulet on ER my porn name, which originated in the Great Porn Name thread of Summer of '98! He was a fantastic writer - he worked on Homicide, ER, and The Wire (among other things), and I was looking forward to his work on Treme.
