the man moans like a wounded sea lion

So allegedly we got 8 inches of snow, but it doesn't look like eight inches to me.

...

I'll let you fill in the rest of the joke there. It basically writes itself.

I was lucky enough to be granted a snow day by NNP, and I took advantage of it to sleep in and watch more of The Middleman.

OMG YOU GUYS! I can't even... I am not at all surprised it got cancelled. I don't even know how a show so ADORKABLY CLEVER, SWEET AND GEEKY got greenlit in the first place, let alone lasted twelve episodes.

VAMPIRE PUPPETS! POSSESSED SORORITY GIRLS! SEKRIT ISLAND LAIRS! MORE POP CULTURE REFERENCES THAN BUFFY AND GILMORE GIRLS COMBINED!

*dies*

*dies again*

The people who wrote this show are totally fans, aren't they? It has that feel to it. I love Wendy and Lacey's BFFness, I love how they care about Noser. I love Wendy and the Middleman's partnership (and okay, I maybe ship them a little, in that maybe someday kind of way, but not in a way that precludes me enjoying Wendy/Tyler, or sympathizing with MM's pining for Lacey).

Also, and I would say this isn't necessarily a function of my SPN fannishness, but it's possible it is, but let's talk about the car. The Middlemobile looks like it should be a 1967 Mustang Fastback, but it could also be a 1968 Mustang madeover into Shelby GT500 (which was the Mustang Fastback refitted). Either way, it says Ford on the grille, but it doesn't have the Mustang logo, nor can I read what the decal on the side says. But that is a sweet ride, and I am still not over the conversion to BIODIESEL. ♥

Seriously, there is a MM/SPN crossover out there where Dean and Wendy fight zombies and have hot sex and make ridiculous pop culture references to each other, right? (Maybe if I keep asking, one will magically appear).

Anyway, I am sad there aren't more episodes, and I am totally getting the dvds when they come out in June, and also whatever the comic book is that comes after. I am hugely entertained, even if I'm not heavily emotionally invested. Though I did get a little sniffly during Wendy's Code 47 speech.

I need an icon. Or two.

Chuck

This is just a personal thing, but ugh, I really get annoyed at these types of plots, where Chuck gets all jealous because the girl who is 1. not actually his girlfriend, and 2. who he broke up with. Like, I get his feelings are real and hard to deal with - believe me, I do - but when his stupidity endangers people, it irritates me. Especially when I know this guy is merely an obstacle who'll only be around for a couple of episodes and the relationship will return to its original real/fake state. So I probably didn't enjoy this episode as much as I normally do, even though the spy guy was hot.

I am, however, amused at Casey's play-by-play about the relationship.

Ugh. Jeff and Lester have crossed so far into cringeworthy territory here with Jeff's Sharon Stone imitation. *shudder*

Links!

= rachelmanija has a great post here on why Dollhouse is structurally (and possibly thematically) unsustainable as a US network television show.

= In a comment on my entry about "Someone to Watch Over Me," raincitygirl lays out an interesting take Boomer's character arc. Spoilers for all aired eps, obviously.

= hearseeno has been doing a really interesting series of posts (start here) analyzing the Winchester family dynamics through 4.14, and what that might mean for Sam and Dean going forward (she's done John and Dean so far; Sam is still to come).
