various. and also sundry.
+ I like this icon, though the quality is poor. It is from a t-shirt advertised on a Dinosaur Comics post, though I no longer have the link. I just thought it was hilarious, so I cropped and resized it down to icon-size.
+ I fried up two turkey burgers for dinner tonight and ate them plain - no cheese, no ketchup or mayo, no bun, just a little salt and onion powder, and they didn't totally suck. I would not recommend this for people who expect actual meals when they sit down to eat, but for me in my singleton state, it was fine.
+ Metallica and Run-DMC were voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I approve! Two thumbs up. Would rock again. (I also approve of Little Anthony & The Imperials, Bobby Womack, and Jeff Beck.)
+
The A.V. Club interviews Michael Hogan, whom you may be more familiar with as Saul Motherfrakkin' Tigh.
+ Less than 24 hours to new SPN! Less than 48 hours to new BSG! *squee*
+ 5 days and change to a new president! *squee*
+ I have a second interview tomorrow at a place I would really like to work. I am trying not to freak out, and trying to maintain an appropriate level of hopefulness (i.e., hopeful that I get it, but not getting overly invested in case I don't. I am failing miserably. I can has job now, please?).
+ I also have an interview back at BEMC on Friday, which. I don't particularly want to go back, for many reasons, but this was set up as a favor, so I can't not go. I have many many thoughts and feelings about this that I will not be airing in public.
+ I really enjoyed last night's Leverage. Especially
Eliot's frying pan and whisk-fu! Bwah! Also, Hardison continues to be made of AWESOME and topped with AWESOMESAUCE. He's just SO ADORABLE! I love his bickering with Eliot and his awkward flirtation with Parker and just... everything. *heart*
+ I posted a story this afternoon:
ashtray floors, dirty clothes, and filthy jokesSupernatural; Sam and Dean; spoilers through 4.10; pg; 6,200 words
Domesticity, Winchester style.
"Can't Hardly Wait" is my favorite Replacements song, and one of my all-time favorite songs, and I thought it was really fitting for Sam and Dean - I've had this title on my list forever (I've also thought about "Jesus Rides Beside Me (He Never Buys Any Smokes)" but I'm not sure what it'd be about, though this season it's more fitting than it would have been in the past. Heh.) so I'm glad to finally do it justice.
If that summary doesn't grab you, the summary was almost, In which Sam and Dean go to Home Depot, do laundry, and discuss the deep philosphical questions of our time. I just felt like maybe it gave away too much. I am not sure. Anyway. There are numerous pop culture references and a lot of brotherly banter as they slowly refit themselves together after Dean comes back. Technically, there are spoilers through 4.10, but they are pretty vague. It's typical of a story by me in that not a whole lot happens, but I really wanted to look at those housekeeping type moments the show rarely shows us. I'm pleased with how it turned out, and thankful other people have liked it. I really appreciate the comments. There were a couple of things that didn't make it into the story so they may have to have a story of their own. I am not sure. At least one of them should happen in canon, but until that day, I will probably keep referring to it in stories.
+ RIP Ricardo Montalban. You will always be KHAN! to me. And also Mr. Rourke, of course. Fantasy Island was on in the days when 10 pm was my weekend bedtime and The Love Boat was a Saturday night highlight. Being allowed to stay up occasionally (and usually fall asleep during) Fantasy Island left me with a skewed memory of the show as really creepy. I am sure now I'd just find it cheesy, but then, it definitely kind of creeped me out. Huh.
