this city holds me in the palm of its hand

Work was exhausting - if I hadn't had to leave to meet fleurdeleo for dinner, I'm sure I could have stayed later, and I scrambled to have lunch, so they are paying me a couple hours overtime for today.

We went to Spitzer's Corner for dinner, which was pretty cool - I had a bacon cheeseburger and two bottles of Lindemans Framboise.

Then we headed over to the Living Room to sit around until they let us in for Tom. It was ridiculously crowded. We were up near the front of the line and people were packed in tight. We like sitting in the middle to the side, so when the big rush into the room came, I just sidled over out of the way and let everyone else go to the front/center.

Anyway, Tom was awesome, as always, and so was Oli. *sigh* It's amazing to me how hard two guys with an acoustic guitar and a cello can actually rock out when they want to. The show was sadly very short, which it always is there - I would love once to see him in a full two or three hour concert, where he plays more than eight songs. Anyway, the setlist, as close as I can make it out (my handwriting in the dark is not the best):

Alphabet of Hurricanes
For the Restless
Walking 2 Hawaii
One Mississippi
A song I do not know the title of, but which contained the lyrics something like "the world is burning / my heart is turning to stone" (QFM) I liked it, even though I can't identify it.
A & B Song
Another song I don't know the name of, but it contained the line "I knew a girl who kept a poem in her shoe" - this was the one with the howling. I liked this one, too.
Boy with the Bubblegun
Silent Boulevard

I wanted to buy a CD, but it was impossible to get near the merch table on the way out because people were shoving their way in for the next show.

All in all, it was a good night.

Tom! ♥
