The nice thing about sleeping alone in a queen-sized bed is that when your giant cat wants to get cozy, you still have half a bed to sleep in.

And if you have to be walking alone on 3rd and Pine in downtown Seattle at 9:30 PM, a cast-iron frying pan is a very comforting thing to be carrying.

I get to walk down there again tonight, but no frying pan :) It's not really that bad. It's a bit scary, but I've never actually been threatened, just felt a little threatened. Now that I know the bus schedules, I should be able to time it so I only have to stand out there for a couple minutes.

Yesterday was my first attempt at o-nigiri (rice balls, to the uninitiated). They were ok, not great. Mainly 'cause I was trying to be all fancy with them. I didn't have any good stuff for filling, so I just put nori, sesame seeds, and furikake on the outsides. I tried pan-frying one of them with a teriyaki-type sauce, but that didn't work out so well. I also need to work on getting the density right. I have a little mold to make proper triangles, but I was getting them either too loose or too packed. I guess I just need more practice! And some filling ingredients. But I LOVE my rice cooker!!!
