OK, we seem to be in that part of the wintertime when we have interesting weather on a daily basis. We had a warming trend late last week which melted almost all of the accumulated snow (approximately 1 foot) we got between Christmas and New Year's. Yup, drawings not *quite* to scale, but hey, it's a start. After doing some sketches and having discussions with both local friends and mom, I realized I needed to get some decent drawings of the current floor plan of the house down before I could effectively begin to brainstorm renovation ideas.

Well, well, I had the contractor over yesterday to discuss repairing and leveling the floor in my little-used family room. It was a back porch once upon a time 24x12, but someone closed it in and turned it into part of the house, probably in the late 60s early 70s. Of course, they didn't lay down a proper foundation, or obey any building codes. ( Read more... )
