So, for the last couple of weeks, I have had no day job. At first, I did a lot of slacking off, but today, I was very productive, so I am proud of myself. :) I'm hoping to actually have a clean apt., car fixed, and laundry done before MTS comes tomorrow night. I will also have to revive my winter clothing, as it is going to snow. It's really weird because Saturday was BEAUTIFUL. I mean amazing. Chicago has even stranger weather than SC.
My old people are crazy again, but at their meeting today, we finally got down to the bottom of things. Firstly, I should say that this group has been very intense and crazy, but I love it. Everyone is so incredibly narcissistic, and while I would find this irritating in a person of my own age, it is amusing when someone is over 70. They constantly complain about different things...some say the class is too advanced and some say the class is too simple and that they want to do "real theatre." To many of them, "real theatre" means no improvising, however, some have grown to love it and I am proud of that. I realized that the problem is, even though they are an ensemble, they all have different ideas about what the group should be. And they spend so much time blaming each other for what the group isn't, that they lose sight of the really cool work that they actually do. So, we have decided to come up with a new mission statement, and I think any theatre company or improv group should do this every couple of years. Because the group changes as people enter and leave and that new ensemble will probably want something different than the original one did. It's not good or bad, it's just life.
Also, I truly believe that I got a discount at the auto shop because the Greek man who runs it thinks I'm cute. Which is just fine with me. :) And I'm going to a concert tonight w/ my friend Rachel. Hooray!!
All in all, life is good and I can't wait to see MTS and Bryan this weekend!
