Could it get any better?

The last month or so really hasn't been brilliant for us. To top it all off I picked up my new car on Monday and by the time I'd driven it 10 miles, the engine overheated because there was no coolant in it (we think it leaked out or something) So it had to be towed back to the garage and hopefully should be repaired today.

I spent New Years Eve cradling a poorly guinea pig in my arms, didn't go to bed until about 2.30am after feeding her mushed up pellets and water with a syringe to try and keep her going. She was having trouble breathing and had gone off her food. Took her to the vets yesterday morning where she had some anitbiotics and she seemed to perk up a little bit during the day. The vet said it was probably a respiratory infection. We fed her every couple of hours and then went to Mum's for tea. When we came home we fed her some more and she really seemed much happier. But this morning she had passed away. I don't know if its because we left her for about 6 hours without trying to feed her, but at least this way she isn't suffering any more. Myrtle seems lonely and confused, but maybe thats just me trying to see human emotions in her. Guinea pigs normally live for about 4 years, and we've only had Bailey for about 18 months, so we'll probably get another companion for Myrtle in the next few weeks. They are very sociable animals and really should be kept in at least pairs. The only thing is we don't know if Myrtle has caught the infection too, She seems fine, but it could develop in the next few days. I really hope she is going to be ok.
