Mom and I decided to go out to dinner this evening. A new restaurant has opened in the neighborhood. It is called the Pickled Heron (http://thepickledheron.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/mainmenu9112012.pdf) which was excellent. The menu depends largely on seasonal and local items so tonight the soup was butternut squash with creme fraiche. Mom had the soup, I had a green salad with pears, yellow beets and local blue cheese. We split a large plate of the brandy glazed cod-fabulous! Will certainly be going back again!
It's funny-if I had been told even five years ago that there would be fine dining on Frankford Ave-I would have laughed. Now, there is Frankford Hall, The Soup Kitchen, Lola Bean, Little Baby's Ice Cream, Pizza Brain and the Pickled Heron! Who would have thought!
