SMCC First Look + Mini Hood Update
Taking a bit of inspiration from silivrin and to help clarify just where Penelope is now, a few pics from Ste-Margo as it moves into its second year.
(One of these days, I'd really like to spend some time beautifying the neighborhood deco. But for now, let's just think of the haphazard arrangement of trees as wild, uncleared forest.)
Ste-Margo's buildings, (sort of but not exactly) in order of construction:
Residential
1. The Batavus house
2. The Sweet house
3. The McKim(s' new) house

5. The Batavus/Mead (though for how much longer...?) house **

7. Ste-Margo Community College housing, which is made up of my little houses. Since it's a community/commuter college, SMCC doesn't have dorms; but the town did use some of its uni fund to purchase these lots to serve as affordable student housing.

10. Books & Bobs (owned by Piet and Jasper)

16. Ste-Margo Community College. *** This is the lot purchased as the site of SMCC. The main building hasn't yet been constructed since the town only just bought the land, so to accommodate students who are graduating in the meantime, they've rented a mobile classroom unit to act as a temporary student center.
The "library" with a lounge space for studying and coffee breaks. Behind the door is a unisex restroom.
At the other end of the trailer is the "computer lab" and a work table for assignments. The mailboxes on the wall are for dropping off papers and leaving messages for professors.
It's certainly not the most glamorous space in the world, but it was really a scramble to get something ready for the first students, and it is of course just a temporary arrangement. But it's a start!

* Contemplating changing the household's name to Morceau for clarity's sake, especially since I keep getting Snowe mixed up with Sweet. Now that Thierry and Virginia are married, Morceaux (or Snowe-Morceaux! Man, I did not think ahead namewise when I put that union together.) technically outnumber Snowes anyway.... Thoughts? Would it be confusing to rename a household at this point in the BaCC? Also, fun fact for Francophones: I originally gave Thierry the last name Morceau because he was a hot "little piece." And while we're on the name kick, Lucy gets hers from one of my favorite books of all time. [ return]
** Fun fact for architecture buffs (though if you are one, this would already have been evident): When Milo and Jasper were living together, at one point there was going to be a third roommate with the last name White, making theirs the McKim, Mead & White household. [ return]
***To get my community college to be in the community, I'm using these hacks for a base-hood uni. So, SMCC students will be able to attend while living at home or in one of the student houses. [ return]
