Wilbur Went Limp

Poor Wilbur really did hurt himself on our walk last night. He's having a hard time putting weight on his leg today and was able to tell me that his knee *and* his foot hurts. I was feeling around on the back of his leg and there's firm lumpy area that isn't on his other, uninjured leg. I'm wondering if he might've pulled a muscle. He got a painkiller earlier and was able to play in the yard with his brother for a bit, but mostly with barking and not much chasing. I'm trying to keep him resting. Hopefully it'll be less painful tomorrow.

With help from my friend Joe yesterday, I got 11 more old car tires for my tire garden. My friend Drew came over today to go hang out and run errands an ended up filling the back of hir truck with mulch and compost bags, then helped me slice the tops off the tires and fill them with something plants might want to grow in. So now I just have to go buy some plants. I've never tried growing potatoes. I'm curious. I have a total of 13 tires full of dirt and I'm going to look up some info on companion planting to see what I might be able to plant with potatoes that'll help them grow better.

My buddy Joe thinks I should be writing more. Like maybe books. He's been saying it for years. I probably have a lot I could write about that may even be interesting to other people, and I have time to do the writing, but I need to find an attention span somewhere.

I did go walk the neighbor kids with their dogs today. They told me about a few times they've taken Daisy to the park, so it looks like they've taken her on walks now and then. When I told them that dogs need to be walked every day, they were surprised. I showed them how to hold the leashes so that they wouldn't slip off their hands easily, which helped hugely when one of the kids got pulled down by one of the dogs when he saw some other dogs being walked. She kept a grip on that leash even when she was lying on the ground getting pulled forward inch by inch. ATTAGIRL!

I asked them on the walk if they were planning on Daisy having more babies. They said no, no more. I told them that since Tyson has testicles and is sniffing Daisy's vagina a lot, he could make babies with her. They did not know that. I told them that Daisy could get pregnant again very soon and that even if they got Tyson fixed, any other dog could still come in their yard and get her pregnant and that they'd be able to smell from a long way away that she was ready to get pregnant. They were not aware of that. They also learned how to pick up dog poop in old grocery bags and I gave them an old scooper for their yard and gave them a bunch of old grocery bags. I talked with them about how it's hard to lie down to rest when the ground is covered in poop and I think it registered with at least one of them. They were scooping poop as I was walking back to my place.

I did ask if they knew where the tags were that I'd gotten for Daisy and her puppy. One of the kids knew right where they were. I asked if maybe they could put Daisy's tag on her collar, just in case. They said they could do that. They asked me how much leashes cost and I told them it depends because there's a lot of different leashes. I offered to take them to Petsmart in my car and that might happen next week.

Progress, I hope.

so good with children, banzai!, wilbur
