Dolla Dolla Bill, WHOA

Wilbur seems to know that paper money is important. He found a dollar on the floor in the kitchen today and stopped us to make sure we knew not to step on it. It's like he was holding up a train because there was a cow on the tracks. He stared down at the money until it was picked up, and then he let everyone continue walking through the kitchen. He was praised for being a good, smart boy, and he remained humble during the awards ceremony.

I've shown him paper money before (and most likely let him sniff it and get a good look) and told him I give it to people and they give us food and other good things, so maybe that's why he remembers that it's important. He's seen it in action and received things like french fries and hamburgers to cement the concept, so I shouldn't be surprised that he actually made the connection after I'd explained it to him.

He's ignored other paper on the floor plenty of times. It's still a little odd to realize that your dog knows that *this* piece of paper is important and the other bits and pieces here and there that the housekeeper ::cough:: missed aren't worth stopping traffic for.
