In search of the ultimate pair of jeans

I hate shopping and trying on clothes. I hate malls. I like clothes, and due to time constraints have spent about the past 5 years buying jeans on line. I have no problem finding tops and shoes or bags, of course.

Ugh, that low rise, ass revealing trend is coming to an end...right? It has caused me misery for years now. While pregnant, I was able to wear the old standard men's Levis 501s until my wastline popped and then stretchy waist pants so I got a little reprieve. But, post pregnancy, it would piss me off to no end when say, I'd find a pair of clearance Old Navy jeans, purchase post haste, only to reveal Old Navy jeans will never fit me like the jeans I'd grew to appreciate as a non scantily clad teen. I grew up giggling at "plumber's crack" after all. It's instilled in me...I've been so incredibly unhip for years now.

I'd also bought a few pairs of Gap jeans, advertised as mid rise cut but they fit oddly. And the regular inseam was too short. They sucked on me so I got rid of them.

I'd end up taking these varied jean incarnations to Plato's Closet so I could get back a fraction of on the money I wasted and they could recycle them to someone more trendy than me. Recently, I stopped back in to Plato's do some shopping of my own, after trying the extremely thin, cheesy pocketed Gap store offerings earlier that day. Gap Long and Lean (from the '08 lines)...FTW! Inseam and rise are perfection. I've also have a pair of "Ultra Low Rise" Gap that I purchased about 7 years ago. That's some deceptive targeted marketing because those are mid rise jeans at the worst. I've had them for about 7 years and they are the only jeans I've held onto throughout this awful trend. They are getting ratty, and frayed around the cuffs but they are a darker rinse so they still pass for my casual jeans allowed work environment. I don't believe Gap has ultra low rise on their racks anymore but they do have the aforementioned super thin, cheesy pocketed version of Long and Lean out this season.

I also picked up a pair of Citizens for Humanity jeans that day. They fit well, but are a little lower than I'd like. As in playing soccer with my kid might reveal something, but for non active wear, they will do.

I haven't ventured into the Land o' Levis in years...I should check those out.

I also got a pair of Lucky jeans at Marshalls a few months back that I like a lot. I wish they were boot cut, instead of straight leg but otherwise they fit well.
