I've been feeling like there is a lot going for me lately in the realms of books, comics, tv and movies.  So much to do that I'm having trouble keeping up. Eek!

What I'm reading:  Just finished In the Woods by Tana French (winner of the 2007 Edgar Awards), and this was my first mystery/suspense book in a while.  Overall, this was a solid read, well crafted and great on the bus.  The characters are well thought out and interesting.  There were occasions that the male lead thought something, as the book is told from his point of  view, I cataloged as wishful thinking as what the author wished men thought like.  But hey I'm a chick so I could be way off base, and those moments were few and far between.  Its creepy at times with good procedural descriptions.  Anyway, I'm on board for her next book The Likeness.

I just started Halting State by Charlie Stross.  I am not a gamer, a programmer or a technophile, so the first couple pages have been me trying to swim in the acronyms and tech talk. Its getting better but right before I got off the bus I read the next "You are...." sentence and I actually had a glimmer of "Oh, ok ...I am...no wait" is there any hope I'll adapt to this perspective? Not sure but like the plot so far.

What I'm watching: What aren't I watching?  I feel like there is too much going on right now and on top of that we are about to jump in to the new fall tv season.

TV series airing now: Burn Notice, Project Runway, Long Way Down, Primeval, The Middleman, The Closer, Venture Bros (ended S3 last Sunday)

TV on DVD: Lost (S1 finished up last Friday), The Wire (starting S5 tonight), Angel S1, Doctor Who S2

The Middleman is growing on me.  Its cute and I like the lead characters. So I'll see that through to the end of the first season.  And Project Runway is so good this season (Suede is wackadoodle!).  Its got really high quality work this time around, I never know who the winner is going to be. Primeval is so-so, its fun and I like the grad student guy and I so want to love this show but its a 'meh' right now. And then Venture Bros! Wow what a way to end the third season!

Looking forward to Fringe and give it a few episodes, even though I wasn't engrossed by it at the Comic-con screening. Also want to watch: Life on Mars, and keep wishing I'd seen the BBC version.  Most anticipated is Dollhouse at the midseason.

What I'm seeing on the big screen: June-July was crazy and we saw a movie nearly each weekend: Wanted, Hancock, Hellboy 2, The Dark Knight, X-Files: I Want to Believe. Most recently the Mr. MsKTonic and I saw Tropic Thunder.  Yes, yes, we are bad people who have no sensitivity to the mentally challenged and are just encouraging future films like this by contributing our $$ at the box office.  Yada, yada...but you know its pretty damn funny.  Next up Hamlet 2! Rock Me Sexy Jesus!

Comics: Still working my way through Hellblazer, and loving it for the most part.  Just read Union Jack, and it was not my favorite piece of work but the art is nice.  Also recently read Blue and I loved that little retelling of the Bluebeard story. I also finished up all my freebies and finds from Comic-con.  Notably, Arsenic Lullaby was really fun.  I'll post separately on all those books.
