Bananas Tour: LA

Mar 12, 2008 11:05

I finally washed my hair at a truck stop in one of those little freeway stop not-really-a-town places in California. Man, did it feel fabulous.

You can see the smog about 150 miles from LA. It's disgusting. We played a cute coffee shop in Echo Park to a small crowd including our friend Terril. There was this guy there that met up with us at the bar later who kept talking about all of these bands he's played with. He said we reminded him of Sonic Youth, and oh, he's played with them. Brooke and I were both thinking the dude was full of shit. Later we learn that he in fact was not full of shit and was one of the founders of SST records and Black Flag, Greg Ginn. His brother, I believe it was Ray, showed up too.

We got a good nights sleep and a shower the next monring. We then hit Venice Beach for some sun. Despite putting SPF 30 sunscrean I still got a little burned. No pictures of the beach, I forgot my memory card. We sat and watched the lifeguard run from his little hut to the beach to yell at people. Baywatch makes it look much more exciting.

Brooke and I went back to Terril's gallery to watch a movie and rest while the boys "broed down." We watched September Dawn, interesting story, bad movie. We're now on our way to Flagstaff.
