Hearing Purple Rain tonight brought back a flood of memories.

What was it, twenty years ago? I remember playing the Purple Rain soundtrack record in my room and lying on the floor listening to it. Since this is a public post, I'm not going to get personal, but I've been thinking a lot about the nature of love...and, more specifically, the language we use to describe it.

One of the phrases in our modern western vernacular is "I love you, but I'm not in love with you." This is usually said to justify leaving someone. I think this is lazy ( Read more... )
