Spike Bugs; Bugs of Spike

Sep 06, 2012 23:43

Okay, so...

Anyone know who said that the Spike bugs was a representation of Spike fans?  Did a writer say that, or was it speculation?

In other news, I read the latest Angel & Faith comic and...well

spoiler...but probably not since I'm one of the last to read this. )

spike, angel & faith comic, fandom, spike fans, comics

Well, I know I said it, but I don't recall anybody "official" saying it. I find 'em charming, myself.

Oh.

It's possible I made that up/assumed I read it on Buffy Forums awhile back ;)

I think it's just speculation? The bugs remind me of Glory's minions.

Yeah, I thought I read that on Buffy Forums or something, but I just wanted clarification.

I do wish Spike had dog demon followers, though. They're nicer to look at :p

Why do I have the urge to flip off ^ (indicating the response above me)?

Oooh, why do you? Methinks I've missed something. Maybe a lot of somethings :P

I can't remember who said it. But in the latest previews, it strikes me that they're drawing a really blatant analogy between Spike's one-sided relationship with Buffy and the bugs' one-sided relationship with Spike.

Ah...interesting. Bugs, bots and Buff's, huh? God, I wish they'd get a new tune :p

I actually kind of liked it, as it means the writer is at least aware of the fact that Spike is often shown treating the bugs in ways that could be taken to mean that he sees them as expendable minions.

Didn't he get protective of them with the bug zompire and when Simone was trying to shoot them or something? I'm not as close a follower as most are with these comics, but I thought the perception given was that they weren't just expendable minions?

Anyway, if that's the direction they're going to take it in now as a Bot/Harmony replacement and mirror to his and Buffy's relationship...no, I don't think I'll dig it. Well honestly, it's tough to dig as is :P

Did any of that make sense? I'm tired and about to go to my beddy-bye, so I am not sure.

I've never heard that statement. Personally, I've always thought of the bugs as a metaphor for Spike himself. He's like a cockroach: able to survive anything.

I think twas me originally. You know. Evil Spike not loving me. Somebody visited the Roses forum and picked it up from there. Originally the whole His Majesty thing reminded me of one of the avatars I saw - with Spike wearing a rather large golden crown. Then there was a line about 'color coded jumpers' in issue 36 - Spike suggested it so he can easily distinguish between the individual bugs. I thought it was very funny. Of course later they got more individuality. PS

I am only answering because I think it truly was me who coined this. Won't be bothering you again.

Oh no! Not bothering me at all. Gosh, I don't give off that impression [of being a giant bitca or something], do I?

Anywho, it kind of makes sense if it is a metaphor for us. Not one I particularly agree with, but considering the stigma of being a Spike fan, I wouldn't be surprised :p

Oh, Spike's much too pretty for that, lol. But I get what you mean.
