I've got the Dreaded Lurgy (Australian for 'heavy cold'). So I have to cancel one of the two trips I intended for my three weeks off; I'll have to visit my sister in Tuncurry in January sometime instead.

I'm sans computer at the moment while it gets a new fan installed. Or possibly the old one cleaned. Hopefully I'll have it back next week.

I've had my social life, such as it is, curtailed due to a cold. Which also netted me a couple of days off work.

Well, yesterday I popped in to get my blood checked, as I do every couple of years. Over forty and overweight, I'm a prime candidate for diabetes. But I just got a call from the doctors' office, asking me to come in today about my 'abnormal results'. They were pretty insistent.

Um... yikes?

Two more days quarantine. Damn.

Looks like I do have Sick Leave after all. Something of a relief.

At least another 48 hours before I'm considered fit for human company. Hours that won't earn me any income, as I'm too new at my job to have sick leave yet. >:(

The sooner I stop being a Typhoid Mary Chickenpox Charlie, the happier I'll be.

I rang my boss to tell her I'd be off today, but likely back Monday. To my surprise, she asked me to get a medical certificate to say I was safe to return to work. After a moment, I understood why, but it's a first for me.

In further news, I'm less confident I'll be safe company tomorrow.

My symptoms are reducing in size and intensity. At this rate, I should be fine for Saturday after all!

I appear to have chicken pox. Perhaps a mild version because I was vaccinated back when dinosaurs roamed the earth I was a child. I don't feel sick at all. But I need to take a couple of days off work to minimise infection of the workplace... and I probably shouldn't go over ashamel 's on Saturday, either. :(
