Paladin, Paladin, where do you roam?

Movie day with Britt was quite fun, as usual! While she did not overly care for the movie (Julie & Julia) I liked it very much! Meryl Streep was sublime. My only MAJOR qualm was that you can see the boom mike in EVERY SINGLE SHOT and sometimes even the rod it was attached to. At points, it was nearly BOUNCING OFF OF THE ACTORS' HEADS. That is not good, and Nora Ephron should feel SHAME for allowing that to get through production and into wide release. Other than that, a GOOD film! It really is very unfortunate about that oversight.

The wedding turned out to be a good time, despite being ditched by my date. I honestly thought Stu wouldn't show anyway, because we never get to hang out, but this time was a very serious reason! His grandfather was being stubborn and went and mowed the lawn on the rider mower, resulting in his falling off and FRACTURING HIS RIBS. It was four months TO THE DAY since my own grandpa died, so needless to say I was freaking out for Stu! Thankfully, his grandfather is going to be just fine. His ribs are hurting, but Stu says his pride was hurt more by the whole incident. Better to have wounded pride than dead grandpa, I say. Anyway, I went to the wedding with just Kayla, and we had a grand old time. I wore my very nice black dress and had my hair done, so I felt truly pretty for the first time in a long time. I can count on one hand the numbers of times in my life where I looked into the mirror and though: "Wow. I'm actually what some people might call attractive!" but it happened again Saturday. It felt good, I must say. The reception was at The Venus de Milo (IT'S SO 40S AND I LOVE IT!!!!) and so dinner was very, very tasty. We all ended up dancing the night away. Kayla made me do the Cha Cha Slide TWICE (GAH) and I got Tricia to dance "Apita Comboio" (a very popular and excellent Portuguese song) with me! It was one of the better parties I've been to in some time. :)

Sunday I had to work 9-5:30, and believe me, I was dragging ass ALL DAY. But everyone was tired, and it was a slow day, so that turned out to be as ok as it could be. Don also informs me that he is almost finished with the novel, which is exciting news! Monday was a do nothing day. I ended up sleeping PAST ten o'clock, which I very rarely do, so it felt like I wasted the whole morning. I loafed about the house too and then went in for work 4-8:30, which was surprisingly quiet for a Monday! Tricia was very sad, since her sister's dog died a couple days ago. That was their baby. :( I'm sure they'll bounce back soon enough, they're tough ladies!

Today I had the day off, so I did some cleaning around the house and then watched "Stand by Me" which I had never seen before, but which is a GREAT FILM. It's one of the few that actually lives up to the hype!!!! After that, I went to Shaw's for more cold medicine for Mom and when she got home from work we went to Dress Barn and Kohl's. We were going to go out to dinner together, since Dad and Jeremy both had other engagements, but Mom started to feel like she had the flu, so we grabbed some fast food and came home. She went to bed a little after 7, so hopefully she gets some much needed rest tonight and is feeling much better in the morning. Everyone, myself included, is looking forward to our little getaway next week. All I know is, I will be off for FIVE DAYS from work, we will be in New Hampshire somewhere, and I am shutting my phone OFF and leaving it at HOME. Everyone here thinks this to be a great idea, and we're all very excited for this week to hurry along!!!
