Well, I have stuff to do, but it's at home and I'm here at work.  Waiting for a patient who is late (or not coming at all perhaps).  Procrastinating on writing chart notes.  Wishing the weather were warmer.  Blah, blah, blah.  Ennui.

I've been watching a lot of Torchwood on Netflix lately.  I'd actually say I was addicted, burning through 2 seasons in a week.  My recent conference trip to Montreal has briefly broken the addiction (after a short period of withdrawal), but I'm sure I'll get hooked again soon.

My sister hosted a Mother's Day BBQ today.  A lot of people were in attendance, including my parents, my brother-in-law's parents, several other family members and my sister's Chinese tutor and her husband (from mainland China).  They are spending 1 year in Canada on a special study/work visa.  Surprisingly, the wife became pregnant while in Canada ( Read more... )

In the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida, the "race issue" is once again rearing its ugly head south of the border.  I wondered, "what exactly is race?" or "how black do you have to be to be considered black?"  In this era of "biracial" marriages and unions, I wonder if the point is becoming moot.
