I tried to warn them, but was too late. The nuclear missile plunged into the hillside. I leapt through the steel doors just as they closed, saving me from the explosion. Part of my role as a spy involved me wearing a strange vest, and it was becoming toxic from the extra radiation in the air.
All my friends were there with me, protected by the walls of my parents' place at Cape Paterson. I could see the crator left in the hillside through the windows, though, Like a redhead in the sunlight, I had to hide behind brick walls because of my vest.
I couldn't find my mobile phone. All I had were two remote controls for the TV. I borrowed Lauren's mobile (which was a design I'd never seen before) and called my mum to let her know I was alive. She asked if my cousins had also survived, but I hadn't seen them. There was water dripping everywhere and the phone got soaked, but I hoped it would be okay.
On the freeway that passed, a traffic-jam had formed of all the trucks involved in the rebuilding effort. We decided to walk home because all the traffic was going the wrong way, but we got lost and I ended up going back to Cape Paterson where all the doors were unlocked. There were several sets of keys, but none of them were for the house.
