JOZI MY CITY MY HOME # 9

Jan 31, 2010 21:46

I WANTED TO TAKE MY CAR FOR A SERVICE THIS MORNING BUT FORGOT IT WAS SUNDAY - THE SERVICE STATION WAS CLOSED

DECIDED TO VISIT SOME FRIENDS INSTEAD

THEY WERE OUT

LOOKED AT THE TRAINS

AND SOME ART

AND CAME HOME

Johannesburg is a city of utter extremes.  The opulence and wealth of the captains of industry rubs shoulders with the abject poverty of the have nots that come to Jozi looking for better lives. Johannesburg straddles the first world and the third world which makes it a vibrant melting pot of culture, crime and everything in between.

This building is close to the Braamfontein Station and looks like a bombed out ruin from some forgotten war. There are actualy people living here, on the second floor, in a roofless building. Better than living on the streets I suppose.
