The Causeway-- 7a.m.
Parker was out at the Causeway early, earlier than the limo. She'd dropped off a present or two before leaving, and was now staring at her cellphone.
In the course of the last God-knew how many days, she had:
- Attended Bridge's B-day party, and teased him about strippers
- Gone to the Gun Range with Jack and found his sword (notdirty)
- Taken photos of a pie'd Jack while he was under a pastry curse
- Gone to Shirtless Caritas Night, sang, communicated with Nadia, photographed a shirtless Doctor, and totally failed to talk to a drag queen, then flirted with Seamus Zelazny Harper, then later arranged a date with him, and chatted to Weiss about that, Christmas presents, and their dating luck.
The date itself seemed to go well last Thursday. Fingers crossed, they'd be engaged in some very mutual fun when she was back from L.A.
After Hawkeye cancelled out on an appointment with her after a week of acting weird, and then disappeared off the Island according to Miss Poppins, Parker had Angelo run a check on his credit cards, and found he'd disappeared. She and Isabel then checked the internet and found a death notice for him in 1955. After recruiting help in the form of Pippi, Willow, Peter Parker, and Sam Carter, they set out for Crabapple Cove and 1955, talked to his dad, looked around town, and finally found Hawkeye at Harry's Happy Hideaway, and after some fighting and discussion, got him to leave. The next day, she'd gone in to show him the now-blank death notice during his office hours. Hopefully, he'd stay in Fandom, despite it sounding more and more like he wouldn't....
And before all that, and a Finals week (which hopefully went well), there had been Tortall. Friday she had arrived, bribed a page, annoyed a monk, annoyed Duke Roger, chatted with Sir Myles, had a Serious Talk with Bridge. Saturday she'd gone into town with everyone else, diced with a Thief friend of Alanna's named Rispah, got on Prince Jon's case about Alanna, got on Angel's case about Callisto, talked and drank with Logan, flirted with a stableboy, shopped with Angela, and met Raoul. Sunday she'd witnessed Alanna's Ordeal, then her accusation of Duke Roger, and tried to talk her out of a duel with the creep; been happy Alanna survived and congratulated her afterward; then had a 'chat' with a blonde chinless twit.
All in all, sticking three extra days into the month hadn't helped make it go faster. Dropping off Jarod's presents at the Sin, as well as a letter might not have been her smartest move, but at least exchanging gifts with Bridge had lead to her getting her newest electronic un-locker, and made her last foray to the Centre possible. Spending time with Angelo had been fun too.
She still wasn't sure what to think of the presents Jarod given her. On the one hand? A necklace made of infinity. On the other? A handbook to being a villain. Except, well, there had been that one time, they'd joked that she was an Aspiring Morally Ambiguous Villainess, and he was Aspiring Hero guy... but that was ages ago, he'd probably forgotten by now....
Harper probably wouldn't call until after Christmas to set up their next date. Jack wouldn't be calling from the future or wherever. Sydney was probably already wherever Sydney went *every* Christmas. And knowing Jarod, he might be waiting until Christmas to open the presents, and wouldn't have a reason to call before then. In which case....
She set the phone to voicemail just as the limo arrived, and smiled at the chauffeur as he loaded her bags.
"Next stop, Athens."
