I got the letter L from defy_n_gravity.
1) LAW AND ORDER: This includes both "Special Victims Unit" (my favourite) and "Criminal Intent" (but only when Vincent D'Onofrio is on it). I'm still a newbie to both series, having gotten hooked towards the end of last year. I've been playing catch-up ever since, and loving every minute of these shows, especially Elliot/Olivia. Oh, and of course Munch/Finn. And Goren/Eames. ;)
2) LORD OF THE RINGS: This includes both the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien and all three films. I think Peter Jackson did a marvelous job of really capturing the mysticism of Middle Earth. I highly doubt any fantasy series could ever beat LOTR.
3) LAWRENCE OF ARABIA: One of my all-time favourite films. I wrote a paper on T.E. Lawrence and compared the actual historical event to the film. Peter O'Toole is so brilliant and the fight scenes are so exciting. Everything is so exotic.
4) LES MISERABLES: I love Victor Hugo. It's such a fantastic and heartbreaking novel. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good classic. It's easily one of the saddest things I've ever read. Jean Valjean is such a great hero. Oh, and being a fan of musicals, I naturally love the Broadway production.
5) L.A. CONFIDENTIAL: I've loved this movie since I watched it back when it was first released. It introduced me to the amazing Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce. I love all the 1950's police work, the costumes, the smut tabloids. Everything. I read the novel by James Ellroy last month and it was even better than the film (which is usually the case).
