If you like L & O, you should check out Homicide, Life On the Street. It was my FAVORITE crime drama ever, but it went off the air about five or six years ago, I guess. It's out now on DVD. It's got a lot of the "old" characters, like Munch, McCoy, etc. It was more graphic, bloody and violent than L & O, but similar premise. The two went hand in hand, and when Homicide ended, a bunch of the characters just transitioned over.

I've heard of it. I think my dad was really into it when it was on. I see it sometimes on t.v. but I don't know the characters, etc. so I never bothered tuning in. I'll probably give it a shot one day. I love crime dramas.

Oh, wow. I could never read it in French. I suck at French. But it really is a beautiful novel. :)

I also forgot to comment on these before I sent the last comment. :\

Looveeeeee SVU. Marathons are my favorite. My goal is to literally watch every single episode even though I know it's going to take a million years to download. I'm willing to put up with that.

LOTR. Of course, yes. I saw the first film in theaters and couldn't get enough. Still haven't read the books because I've decided I'm the slowest reader in the world.

Les Mis, Broadway. Yay. I can't believe I'm missing my girl Lea Salonga as Fantine again. Gah.

If you like LA Confidential, do you like watching noir films?

Yeah, it will take me forever to watch every SVU episode but I absolutly love it. :) The characters are all fantastic and the stories are so intriguing. It must be such a rough job.

You should try the book one day. Even if you are a slow reader, Tolkien's world is incredible and there are some things the movies don't have.

Who is Lea Salonga?

I haven't seen many noir films. Are there any you'd recommed?

It's so true. It must be really tough with some of the stories especially children and rape.

I'm definitely going to do that. I have Two Towers but of course need to acquire the rest of them. Maybe not slow. Maybe just lazy. :x

She was the original Kim in Miss Saigon and won a Tony for that, the voice of Princess Jasmin and Mulan in the Disney films, was in the Flower Drum Song revival and is on Broadway now in Les Mis. She's the only successful Filipino ever (Internationally) so she's definitely highly regarded in the community.

LA Confidential was like, noir light. There are the classics from the 50s like Double Indemnity, The Maltese Falcon, Notorious -- even Sunset Boulevard! There are the dark shadows, good/evil portrayed by dark/soft lighting, voice over narration, the femme fatale. Hitchcock was a lot of noir and Billy Wilder.

I've seen Double Indemnity and Notorious, but not for a long while. I really should watch more of those old film noirs. Thanks for the suggestions. ;)
