Discovered as I was making cookies today that I was out of vanilla extract. Figured I'd try almond instead. Was out of that too, so used a teaspoon of orange extract instead.

Turned out really, really good. Highly recommend trying it sometime.

I seem to be in a culinary mood. We had a book sale at work and I bought "White House Chef," a memoir/cook book by the White House chef for most of the Clinton era and the first half of the Bush era. I don't know if I'll make a lot of recipes, but it's pretty interesting to get this backstage glance at the White House operations ( Read more... )
