On my motorcycle ride home last night, I thought I'd take a sniff at a cul-de-sac near our house. I've been doing the odd bit of a look for houses, in case we ever decide to buy, and saw a nice area with a vacant lot online, and thought "Why don't I drive by there and see what it's like?"
Turns out
this cul-de-sac is all of about 280 m/300 yds.

I was going to say "if you live in a snow belt don't buy that house" but... you don't. ;-)

I tried to join AAA last year - and I only own a bike. It was $100+ for the membership... and another +$40 because I have a "recreational vehicle". It's my only set of wheels, and I ride 'em year-round, so I told them no thanks, and just paid for the jump outta pocket.

I hope it doesn't cost too much to fix the wheel
Prepare for open wallet surgery :)
I'm not overly sure I'd trust a "repaired wheel" especially these days, I've not seen an ounce of pride in anyones work for about 10 years now, hell even our window cleaner leaves streaks, the street sweepers leave leaves, and let's just not go into the clowns that sandblasted and pointed the rear of our house :@
the culture of "ah it'll be right" isn't gonna do you any favours with a badly repared wheel at motorway speeds + is it a common machine, would the breakers not have a servicable item? you'll prolly need a new tyre though, check for "blebs"

oh and how high were the curbs? I've never injured a wheel riding up one they must be like little cliffs in that road?

I suspect I might have gone into it at a bit of an angle, too, which wouldn't have helped.

Curb was a good 10 cm/4". Nasty.
And the older you get, the more times you dine out on that one, the larger it will be :)
