Doug poked his head in the door. Going to Toad's birthday party didn't seem like a very wise idea, but it was that or stay at home and watch Nettik attack the Christmas tree. Even if Pyro wasn't likely to be here, some of his other friends might be. And maybe he'd make some new ones... although people who chose to hang out with Toad weren't usually Doug's kind of people.

He went over to the bar and got a Coke from the Doombot. He ordered in Latverian, just because he could.

Toad was already there, dressed in his best vest (and trousers! Of course he was wearing trousers), and had just come down stairs from checking out the upper levels when he saw him.

The X-Brat. Oh, how he had things to say to the X-Brat.

In one giant leap, Toad jumped more than halfway across the room, and landed neatly on the barstool next to Douglas Ramsey

"Well, well, well, lookie here," he said, a cheerful tone. "If it isn't Yoko. You came without your John. Didn't really expect that."

"You said we should go drinking together, didn't you?" Doug asked. He looked Toad up and down. "Happy Birthday, by the way."

[morty_toad]

"Thanks!" Toad said with a smile. "It's not really today, I don't know when it is. Today's good as any to celebrate, right?"

He doesn't wait for an answer. He sniffed at Doug's drink. "Cola? COLA? That's it? Not acceptable! DOOMBOT!" he calls out, calling its attention from the end of the bar. "Bring us two dirty hookers!"

Willard hadn't been to a party in, well, ever, partly because he didn't like noise, and mostly because no one ever invited him. But he'd been reading a lot of books on improving his confidence and social life recently, and going to an actual social event seemed like a good idea, even if he didn't stay long.

Socrates is in his pocket, and nuzzles Will's fingers reassuringly. Will goes off to see if he can find them both some cake.

"Hi there!" Toad greets enthusiastically. "I have no idea who you are, but welcome! I'm Toad. Or Morty. Or Mortimer. You pick what you want to call me, as long as it's not Dog. What's your name?"

Willard is struck into a horrified silence for a moment. Not only is someone talking to him, but that someone is green, and his legs seem to not be entirely human either. But Socrates nudges his thumb, and he gulps down some air.

"Um. Willard?" he says. "Hi Mr. Mortimer. Hope you don't mind that we're here. Thought I should meet new people."

"You say your name like it's a question! Are you not sure what it is?" Toad says, laughing. Then he looks around to the sides and behind Willard. "We?" Toad asks. He didn't see any we. "Did you bring someone? That's perfectly fine! The more, the merrier, I'd say."

It's Toad's birthday.

Well, birthday celebration, anyway, as he didn't know the exact date of his birth. Early January, the caregivers at the orphanage thought.

No matter! Today is as good as any day to celebrate! And, really, it doesn't even need to be about him - it's all about getting hosed and having a good time. Birthdays are just a good excuse to bring people together!

Toad is all over Worlds End, smiling and laughing and dancing and singing and willing to take down an opponent or two at the pool tables.

If you happen to pass his way, stop and say hello! He's will to have a good chat with anybody and everybody!

"Hello, Toad," Mike says, appearing out of the crowd. It's clever the way there just happens to be a crowd for him to step out of. All part of the Worlds End service! "Happy Birthday."

[morty_toad]

"Mike!" Toad calls out with loud exuberance, even though he standing right beside him. He claps Mike on the shoulder (totally missing the wincing) and grins. "Thanks for all this," he says, waving his hands around. "It's awesome. You're still footing the bill, right? The sign says you are. No matter, I'll do it, if need be. Have a drink!"

"It's being paid for," Mike says.

He's wearing the "Don't Touch" T-shirt. And jeans! And still no shoes or socks.

"How are you?"

Wanda has very mixed feelings about Toad, but the truth is he's never been mean to her and THAT makes him nearly unique. So she decided to come to wish him a happy birthday.

Anyway, she looooooooooooooooooves parties!!

Wanda walks in as if she expects they are waiting for her. She grins, holding a brightly wrapped gift high and looks for friends (or hotties to add to her To Date List).

"WANDA-KINS!" Toad cries out excitedly, and he hops over to where she is standing. "I can't believe you came, I'm so happy you did! And, look at you. You don't look like you've aged a bit since I met you all those years ago!" He laughs good-naturedly.

"Hihi, Toady!! Happy birthday." She thrusts the gift in his face. "I didn't know what to get you so you havta wish for something when you open it, okay?!?!"

She hasn't aged...this is what happens when you can't remember your own birthday and your twin brother disappears.

"Okay!"

What Toad really wished for was for Pyro to come back to the Brotherhood soon. For whatever that needed for that to happen, to just bloody happen already. But he really, really wished that Pyro and Doug would just bloody break up already!

But he didn't think that Wanda would approve of such wishes, so. "I'll open it later, after I have a good time to think about what I want! Okay?"

He knew about her age thing, he just thought it impolite to bring it up. "You look marvelous, darling. I hear you're at the Mansion. How's that going for you?"

And he almost keeps the scorn out of his voice. Almost.

He was here for Toad, to celebrate the green man's birthday. Because come on the chances of Pyro actually making it were probably slim to none. The Wanker. Or whatever it was that Toad called him.

He sat down at the bar and ordered another beer. Avalanche wouldn't have more than ten. That was it. Not like he needed to drink her away anyway. This was about Toad. Being there for a teammate. Not running away.

"Hello, Dom," Mike said, dropping onto the stool next to him. "How are things?"

Mike liked to ask really stupid questions.

Who the hell--white streak. Mike. Right.

"What do you think?" Avalanche snaps back and then smooths a hand through his hair. Shrugs. "You sure you're related to the Summers and not Rogue?"

"Are you sure Rogue isn't related to the Summers?" Mike grins. "What are you drinking?"
