So I'm a busy person or just really lazy. I am now about to tell you all about the rest of my New York trip. Lucky you! Good thing I wrote down what happened. Anything in italics is what I am adding today. Here we go...back a few pages in the journal.
August 18th
Got up around 9:30 and rushed down for breakfast. Took a cab to Battery Park and took pictures of the Statue of Liberty. Went to the bus stop and took the Brooklyn tour with James who was pretty funny and majorly gung ho about Brooklyn. After the tour we went to Chipotles which was pretty awesome actually...I miss Chipotles. Wandered around Borders for a bit. Took a cab to Rockafeller Center/NBC Studios. We took the NBC Studio tour and saw the sets of Nightline, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and SNL. After we checked out the NBC experience store. Went back to hotel and bought tickets for 9 to 5, Wicked, and Jersey Boys(maybe) At the time it was a unsure thing if we actually had those tickets. Showered, relaxed and at 6 we left for supper. Ate at Planet Hollywood and went to Avenue Q where we found out that our tickets were actually for Monday and we missed it. They told us to stick around until just before to see if they could get us tickets but no go :( I suggested we buy tickets for Saturday right then. We went in to get them and the theatre gave us comped tickets for excellent seats! Feeling a bit better but still stupid. Bought some souveneirs on Times Square and then went to Walgreens to get some random junk. Went back to hotel and watched TV for the rest of the night. Crazy thunderstorm around 10pm. I just want to add that the box office staff of Avenue Q absolutely rock!
August 19th
Relax day(sort of) Slept til eleven. Left hotel at 12:30. Got pretzel dogs from Auntie Anne's (yum) I just got an Idina flashback...even though I had my pretzel dog at the airport the day after Idina... Got our tickets for The Fantasticks. We had about thirty minutes before it let in so we went to try to cool down(it was disgustingly hot) Starbucks was full, the one that Natalie and I chilled at in March while waiting for Wicked! Mcdonalds was full, so we loitered in Duane Reads. Went into The Fantasticks. Front row seats but super small theatre. Show was quite good. Afterwards we went to Ruby Tuesday for supper and then back to hotel for a bit of quiet time before Hair. Left hotel at 7:20 off to Hair. Good seats about halfway up on the end of the center section of the orchestra seating. Sat beside rally annoying people. Hair was awesome! Very raunchy (overt sexuality) and had a surprising (and unexpected) nude scene. Very audience interactive. During Let the Sun Shine at the end anyone who wanted to could go on stage and dance with the actors. (Very coo!) Side note: I did not...shock. Went straight back to hotel for beds (yay!)
August 20th
Got up at 7:15 and were dressed and breakfasted at 7:45 ish and off to the Empire State building hoping for better visibility than the last time. Stopped at Grand Central Station on the way back to the hotel where we rested for about an hour. Went on the George M. Cohan theatre district tour which was ok but I already knew a lot of the facts. Walked to the Circle Line cruise(stopped at diner on the way) Where they played Wicked on the radio! Saw the statue. Cabbed back to hotel and rested an hour. Got Goodburger for dinner. Got ready for 9 to 5. Seats were third row centre. Show was great! Allison Janney was awesome and I love Megan Hilty! Tried to Stage door but the Security Guard said Megan wasn't coming out tonight :( Which as it turns our was a lie because I know someone who met her that night :( Terrified a Fanzel. Went back to hotel armed with cheesecake from Juniors
August 21st
Was going to go see The Today Show but chose sleep instead. Got up at 9:45. Left room at 11. Went to Colony store and NBC store (alone) and bought several things I didn't need. Got lunch (Chipotle) and went back to room. Left around 2 to go on the Radio City Music Hall tour. Very Cool. Went to Bloomingdales, Serendipity, and Dylan' s candy bar where we spent about $150 on candy. Walke dto Gershwin for lottery. Didn't win :( Went to Applebees for supper and back to Gershwin for Wicked. Walked back to hotel. Le uber pooped ...apparently I was quite tired :P
August 22nd
Up at 9. Behind the Emerald Curtain at 10. Very cool and interesting. Went back to hotel to change and then went to lunch at Planet Hollywood and then off to Avenue Q. Got program for Hair before. Avenue Q rocked! Third row seats. After the show we snuck into Next to Normal lobby so I could get a program for it. Went back to hotel where mom napped for an hour. Went to Lindi's for supper. Mom had just cheesecake, I had breakfast :P Service sucked and food was WAY overpriced. Went to Jersey Boys. Was ok. Music was awesome story was slightly meh. Also because the whole show is comprised of popular songs people felt it was ok to sing along. IT'S NOT. You are in a broadway show. Just because I know the lyrics for all the songs of Wicked doesn't mean I sit there singing along in the theatre. Went back to hotel.
August 23rd
Slept til 10. Went for lunch at 1 at TGIFridays. Bought some souveneirs. Went to Mary Poppins. Was ok, too many little kids. Went for supper. Looked for hoodie. Went back to hotel. Packed. I guess I was sick of writing at this point :P well basically the next day we got up at some ungodly hour and flew home.
So there you go. The whole trip. We'll see if I fill you in my life since then. Maybe I will, maybe I wont. Either way I have to be up in seven hours so I am going to bed now.
