loooookit, a year end survey thing

Jan 04, 2011 21:27

I did one of these in 2008.  It was gonna be a yearly thing, and clearly that worked out well.  But I'm doing one now, four days late.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?

Visited the land of Spoin. Stood on top of a mountain. Graduated college. Got a real, grown-up job.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

My resolution was to write a book. I wrote Storm Born instead. I’m still pretty proud of it, but yeah. I’m making the same resolution this year, and if I can just keep from becoming hopelessly obsessed with any more tv shows, I might stand a chance.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Quite a few acquaintances, but no close friends.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Fortunately no.

5. What countries did you visit?

Spoin.  (That is Spain, for the uninitiated.)

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

A really great apartment.

Less student loans. ZERO student loans. That would be fab.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Christmas Day. Because for me it’s always as Dylan Thomas says: “the-never-to-be-forgotten day at the end of the unremembered year.” Have I mentioned how much I adore Dylan Thomas? Because I do. He’s at the start of Storm Born too.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Graduating college and getting a grown-up job. I’m practically a real adult person now.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Nothing too catastrophic. I think I ran a red light once.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Yeah, a bit. It was the first time I had surgery. And this was teensy, tiny minor surgery, but I was an emotional wreck for a week or two before and after. But the scar doesn’t show too much, and I’ve moved on.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My car. I’ve dubbed it the Purple Dragon. My computer’s a close second though. (Its name is Biscuit, should you want to know.)

12. Where did most of your money go?

My car. My loans. Plane tickets.

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Brand-new, knee-high black leather boots. With black suede cuffs. Also, adorable gray suede boots that cost ALL OF EIGHT DOLLARS.

Apparently shoes in general.

14. What song will always remind you of 2010?

Lady Gaga’s Telephone

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Happier or sadder? Happier!

Older or wiser? Oh, I’m always both.

Thinner or fatter? Neither.

Richer or poorer? Poorer. Lots poorer. Hnnnnnnng student loans.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Dancing. I haven’t gone dancing in forever. I think I’m adding that to my resolutions actually.

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Procrastinating. Except I’m really good and exceptionally talented at it.

18. How did you spend Christmas?

Rolling around in all the snow and tying big red bows on my dog.

19. What was your favorite TV program?

Legend of the Seeker. Oh, Show. I still miss you.

22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nope. No hate.

23. What was the best book you read?

The Hunger Games. Everyone needs to read it. I’ve almost gotten to the point where I can accept Peeta as an actual name. I’m finally getting Catching Fire AND Mockingjay soon, and omgggg excited.

Also The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. Sooo good once you slog through the first 100 pages or so.

24. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Well, this was the year I discovered Florence + The Machine, Y/Y?

25. What did you want and get?

A job. Fabulous shoes. A new haircut.

26. What did you want and not get?

More LOTS. :'''''''(

27. What was your favorite film of this year?

I can’t remember everything I saw in 2010, but I saw Harry Potter last. It was good except for all the parts where Ron likes Hermione. Also the parts where she likes him back. But I want Fleur’s wedding dress times a million billion.

28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I went out to dinner. Also I got 20+ handmade birthday cards from all my wee bbs. And I tackled baking. Apparently I make delicious cookies. My bbs say so.

29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

An abundance of men all over 6 feet.

30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

Dresses. Heels. Big belts. Tights. Boots. Bangs.

31. What kept you sane?

Writing words.

32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

We still have not successfully located my celebrity crush. The sparkly one is trying though.

33. What issue stirred you the most?

Everything surrounding the oil spill and how it was handled, or not handled, really.

34. Who did you miss?

My brother. I always wanted a sister when I was little, but this guy is awesome.

35. Who was the best new person you met?

There are THREE. They know who they are.  <3

36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:

Always make your dinner reservations in the right state.
