You want to know the main thought in my head today? The one I can't quite get out even when trying VERY hard to concentrate on Minute taking?

OH MY GOD YOU GUYS IT'S LESS THAN A MONTH TILL LEGALLY BLONDE!

♥♥♥

Oh I am so VERY VERY excited (can you tell?)

ANYWAY yesterday was Hairspray and I am totally loving this going to big musicals thing I seem to have saved for the end of the year and it was JUST as good the second time and I was very nearly in hysterics in the middle and I am still singing You Can't Stop The Beat <333

I went with seiyaharis, glaelia, temaris, klo_the_hobbit, lesyeuxouverts, lizw and djm4 and it was very lovely to meet the last three only... only we got upgraded seats which was really lovely and meant we had a fabulous view BUT because I handed people tickets and they went in as they arrived we ended up sitting scattered across the Circle in three groups and I only got to talk to people briefly at the interval (other than Becca and Glae who I was sitting with)

But oh Phill Jupitus is... well you totally should go and see him :D

I suppose Phill as Edna is a pretty good place to start really *g*

He was... well he was fantastic and has surprisingly good legs and the ability to jump and spin in heels (and all that padding) and he really hit some of the big notes and his singing was good and his dancing was... in character *coughs* and his accent was HILARIOUS, by which I mean atrocious it was somewhere between American and British and Australian and something else all it's very own, but the thing is he was SO funny and had great chemistry with Tony Timberlake's Wilbur and he has such a wicked little smile when he's being silly and It Takes Two was just priceless ♥

The whole cast was good but somehow... somehow funnier this time? Not that it wasn't funny before but when Link and Tracy and Penny and Seaweed were all on stage together in the first half I just Could Not Stop Laughing and Becca wasn't doing much better next to me. Pennt (Verity Rshworth) was adorable and over the top and so very taken with Seaweed and Adrian Hansel's Seaweed seemed a little bewildered at first but also had this wodnerful "I didn't do it" kind of a look and Chloe Hart makes a great Tracy (although it does have to be acknowledged that she's clearly not the best dancer on the stage which is a bit... but then Tracy isn't just about the dancing it's about who she is too) and then Link. Link in this production, as portrayed by Liam Tamme, was WAY more clueless and dorky than before and I just kind of loved him and wanted to pet him when he looked confused and slightly alarmed by Tracy (It Takes Two was another of the moments I nearly slid off my chair I was giggling so hard)

And the others were all fabulosu too. Belinda Carlisle's voice is much deeper or fuller or something than other Velma's but she just sounds incredible and does wicked so well and Nicola Brazil's Amber worked beautifully with her.

And then Sharon D. Clarke as Motormouth Maybelle... ♥_♥ I mean her voice is incredible and she's gorgeous and when she was on stage you generally were going to be looking mostly at her and There's A Light just sent shivers all up and down my spine.

And I do love Hairspray as a show and as a film. It has great upbeat songs and wonderful dancing and costumes and fun sets and if you don't laugh during You're Timeless To Me then... well I don't even want to know you :P

(though I am now actually sure that what looks like corpsing is in fact entirely stage managed but even knowing that I still laughed)

And then everyone LEFT ME ALONE TO STAGE DOOR. Rubbish friends (actally to be fair I didn't even find everyone again afterwards but still, I wish to make it clear that if I don't have at least one of the 24 people coming to Legally Blonde at the stage door with me I'm not speaking to any of you ever again :P)

There were a few people there too though. A girls who'd won a facebook competition for tickets and two families with kids, who decided I was a fount of all stage door knowledge because I (shock horror) asked the door guy is Sharon Clarke was still inside when everyone else had gone *g*

Actually that was really weird, I decided I just had to see her because she was in Rent at the Shaftesbury theatre all those many year's ago when Joe McFadden was enough of a draw for me to try stage-dooring for the first time <3

So I actually got all the main cast except Seaweed (because I didn't see him go), Corny (because he was with friends and I ddin't dare interrupt) and Velma (because Belinda Carlisle had a car literally right opposite the door and went straight too it :-S)

But Verity Rushworth was adorable and said she loved Penny's final dress and Nicola Brazil (Amber) chatted for a while and said she finds herself dancing along when she's standing backstage because the songs are just that catchy <3 Tony Timberlake said lovely things about Phill and how much fun they had together and Liam Tamme seemed bemused by being screamed at by a bunch of teenaged girls who appeared round the corner just in time for him

And Phill Jupitus signed for me and I said we'd debated tweeting him in the interval and he said we should have done and that he'd sent a picture of him and Belinda just before the interval <3 and he chatted to the teenagers for quite a while and happily posed for pictures and then stood for aaaaaaaages trying to get a taxi poor guy.

And then Sharon came out way after everyone but she signed and laughed when I said about Rent and then I went home.

In bed by 00:30 :-S Habit of Art tonight and I'm thinking thank goodness for Saturday lie-in!
